Inside

The best food I've had in Amsterdam. Bold claim? Allow me to back it up. A friend and I visited around 7:30 on a Friday night. It was busy inside and we waited inside awkwardly until clarifying that we wouldn't be getting in. However, we realized there were some tables outside that were for the taking, so we took. Sitting outside with a heater in moderate temps was PERFECT, and we got to people-watch aplenty. Cutting to the chase: For wine, we split a very reasonably priced bottle of the Hacienda Araucano Reserva cab -- recommended. Then to split we ordered the cheese plate, Bitterballs (pronounced BIT-eh-balls) and masala hummus. Those damn balls were so good that in fact, my friend told me generously, "You can have the last ball," and I responded immediately, "You're such a good friend."

Main of the day: fish curry with various herbs and vegetables!

Was a pretty chill atmosphere and convenient location in Amsterdam, near the Centraal train station. It's a cafe with a bar, but they also serve good food. We tried the onion soup -- it was good, and a Dutch recipe. I also had a fish curry with various vegetables and herbs. The dish was a good size and very tasty, but a little pricey (€17). Otherwise, the atmosphere was very chilled out, with evening lighting.

Love!

Cool spot. I like the interior - large tables, good service, neat decor. It's just easy - simple, nothing fancy, but definitely a safe bet for lunch or a meeting or a beer with friends. it gets a bit busy so be there a little early to secure a table if you're going for the dinner route.

Excellent food and great service. Just a short walk from Amsterdam Central Station. Waiters gave excellent advice on drinks and desserts.

Solid food, good option. Convenient as can be -- just a couple blocks from centraal station, and even accessible by pedestrian bridge. Loved the atmosphere -- casual but not grungy. Liked my tomato soup starter. Liked my fish main a lot too. Reasonable value. Overall a keeper. Worth 4.5 stars.

Very crowded, definitely make sure to make an appointment, seems to be a very popular place, very close to the Central Station.

They have a large menu of beers, liquors, and cocktails, all very cheap, and they did not charge cover when we visited on a Thursday around 9:00 pm. The band was spectacular. They played a list of crowd pleasing covers and even took requests. Very fun place. We passed by late on a Saturday, and there was a huge line to get in, so we recommend coming during the early show on a weeknight - early for them is around 8-10 pm. Their website is great and lists the bands playing. I believe they have at least one if not two live acts every night of the week.

What a find. Honestly I would never have stepped into this bar if it weren't for my friend A., who…read moresaid that this is the place he goes to where he doesn't have to perform or pretend. Smack in the middle of busy Leidseplein, you'd think this would be a total tourist trap nightmare. But it's genuine, down-to-earth, and a good salt-of-the-earth live music bar. With murals of great rock legends on the wall and your proper hole-in-the-wall decor, billiards tables, TVs with sports playing, and live music almost every night, there's bound to be something to entertain you while you wait for a show to come on at Melkweg or on the odd night that you're not out at some DJ event. People sing along. People dance. People rock out. There is a cover charge when it gets later into the night, so arrive early if you want to avoid it!

We have heard of Donnies, but have never been so thought this was a good opportunity to try it out. Food: Since we were looking for a light lunch we decided to share the large size of the Kapsalon Kip. The Kapsalon Kip has responsibly raised chicken, hot sauce, garlic sauce, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, jalapeños, cheese and wait for it...french fries! It's definitely big enough for two people and SO DELICIOUS! We kept saying "OMG, this is so good". Drinks: We ordered two ice teas and one beer. If you're a beer lover they have craft beers on their menu. Price: €19.35 Service: Service started out pretty slow when we arrived. No one came to us for 10 minutes and I went outside myself to get the menus off the tables there to see what to order. But once they realised we were there and took our order the service picked up. The waitress in the end was nice and friendly. Ambiance: It was pretty quiet on the Saturday afternoon we were there. The space is very nice and well done. Definitely the nicest doner kabab house I've ever been to. Would I go back? ABSOLUTELY! I'm looking forward to trying other things on their menu.
