The place was very clean and welcoming. The flavored latte I ordered was good and was made fine, but not really a lot of flavor. I was cold and tired so I did drink it. It was fine, but nothing as expected for a seasonal flavored item. We did not have any of the pastries to try on this stop in.

I have to say that we got here in the afternoon, therefore not having he possibility to enjoy a wide variety of cakes, as they were probably all sold out. I also have to admit that I am very picky when it comes to Sachertorte, so my opinion might be very different from other clients. To me it didn't really hit the spot, I found it a little too foamy (like a mousse) and with too little apricot flavour, which to me is very important. The chocolate icing was also a little too thin for my taste, so I wasn't a huge fan of it. However my friend who was with me tried the hazelnut cake and she liked it a lot. Maybe I'll give it another try with another piece of a different cake and I'll post a new review :) And maybe I'll come in the morning, when I'm sure I'll find a huge variety of cakes to choose from. :)

My family and friends have visited here often over the years. Only 7 km from Trier, Germany's…read moreoldest city, and under 20 minutes to scenic Saarburg on the Saar River--both a 'must see'! There are amazing walks and views to discover. The restaurant and Landhaus are lovely and the chef is really superb! Try the Rieslings -- Artur the owner/vintner is a wealth of information and his wines are such a wonderful value (I always bring a case home). His charming wife runs the hotel side and speaks excellent English. They have several rooms that will accommodate multiple families or groups traveling together.
