I had heard about this place many times before being advertised as an American bar. After going to…read moreLoos Bar, my expectations were low for this place as some businesses seem to think that sticking 'American' in the name makes it American. Also this place has nothing to do with the America of today. It's more of a dreamland of someone who identifies Hemingway and The Rat Pack with America. Nonetheless, the ambience is good and the cocktail selection is incredible! Prices are steep (€14 for a champagne cocktail) but it was delicious. The service was fast and friendly too. I am deducting a star because 1) there is no separation door between smoking and non-smoking area and a real American bar would never have a smoking section anyway! And 2) they don't have wine (beer yes but no wine).

Great range of drinks - cocktails from about EUR 9-10 each and a fantastic range of whiskies. Atmosphere is great - Rat Pack style and very chilled out. Staff really know their stuff for cocktail mixing. Easy to get to (close to U3 Neubaugasse or U3 Zieglergasse). Really starts getting quite full from 10pm on Friday and Saturday nights. If I take visiting friends out for cocktails, I choose Barfly's.

Finally a proper Belgium beer bar in Vienna!!!!! Have been…read moresearching all over for a place that sells "proper" beers and now the search is complete. The place itself is quite small with only 7 or 8 tables to choose from and a fair amount of space at the bar to stand but don't be fooled. There is an amazing selection of beers here. Sprawling over 5 pages and including many of my personal favourite beers there is so much to choose from. I didn't count but I imagine there must be over 150 different beers here. Wow! Table reservation is available and it seems to be a good idea if you are going with a group of friends as standing at the bar leaves not too much room to chat and converse. There is a separate smoking section which is very rare in Vienna and a plus for the non smokers out there. The service is a little slow because of the sheer volume of people and the smallness of the place. There were only two servers there when I was there and probably 50 or so people. But I must admit that they are very, very good. They are attentive and organised, knowledgable and focused on the job. Taking orders 4 or 5 tables in advance and then delivering is really a great skill and a pleasure to behold! There is a smallish snacks menu available and from what I saw was really pretty decent. It helps to soak up some of the beer with something to eat. And now to the main event, the beers: There a few beers on tap as well as a few Austrian pils and Weissbiers to choose from but the focus certainly is on Belgium beers. For such a small place the beer menu has a great representation of Belgium beer types. Lambics, Blondes, Dubbels, Tripels, Trappists, Dark Ales, IPAs and more are all to be found here. It really is worth the price of admission to have a great menu such as is to be found here. So if you like Belgium beers this is the place for you. "Op uw gezondheid!"
