We had a lovely experience at Cafe Evergreen for brunch! It's a little unusual in that when you call ahead to book your table, you have to let them know which breakfast you want - vegetarian, vegan, classic, or American. I got the vegetarian and my table mate got the classic. When you arrive at the restaurant everything is already laid out for you and you just order drinks.
Our server was very friendly and prompt. Both of our breakfasts consisted of a variety of spreads, deli meats (or imitation deli meats for the vegetarian), cheese, fruits and veggies, and a bowl of brötchen, the seeded and the white varieties. The brötchen were warm with a nice crunchy crust on the outside and soft interiors. The fruit tasted fresh and vibrant. The imitation deli meats were surprisingly good! There was also a small bowl of yogurt, granola, and fruit that was very tasty.
The ambiance is great too! Small and cozy. Some outdoor seating too but it was a little too cold for that on the day we were there.
The total for both of our breakfasts together came to just under 60 euros, so I believe the breakfasts were about 25 euros each and drinks were separate. That may seem on the pricier side for brunch but considering the amount of food you get and that it gets replenished if you run out and would like more, plus the fact that everything tasted so fresh, I actually think it's a very reasonable price. I can't wait to go back next time I'm in Duisburg! read more
