Amazing little gem in Agnes Waters. I first came here a week after they'd opened and was very impressed by their modern and up-to-date interior decor and style. They've done their research on what people like nowadays and found some amazing inspiration.
We sat outside on the decking which was very comfortable with spacious tables, a great amount of shade, a quiet ambience, and a lovely view of their vertical herb garden. We ordered coffees, cake and lunch. We ordered two Chicken Panini rolls which were filled with spinach, aioli, basil pesto and sundried tomatoes. Mom ordered a garden salad from the sides menu, although when it came out it was huge. A lot more you'd expect from a side salad. It was delicious and fresh she said. For someone who isn't big on eating heavy foods when going to Cafes she was well impressed and walked away satisfied. We also loved our panini rolls. The elements worked well together and it was a refreshing change compared to the customary rolls we usually see in a lot of cafe menus. The bread was lightly toasted and a nice size. The owner actually told us the baked good- cakes and bread are done in-house exclusively for the cafe, which is something not usually done nowadays.
The service was supreme. It was really quite busy when we walked in during the lunch period. Even though there were several staff working, each and every one was busy in their own roles. When we queued up at the counter one of the floor staff actually started taking our order with a pen and paper while we waited for the person in-front to finish, which just lead to the counter staff entering it all in. I've never seen this level of service before, which was a wonderful surprise and very thoughtful from this floor staff member.
The owner actually had a chat with us while clearing our table and told us it'd only been a week since opening and how they'd gone so well so far. She gave us some knowledge about their coffee beans saying their blend was from a high end roasterer in Byron Bay. I wouldn't doubt that since my short black was delicious- very rich, smooth, with a lovely caramel crema.
Shame I'm not a local in Agnes Waters, in fact I'm right away in Adelaide, as I wouldn't waste any time becoming a regular to this little gem including pulling all my friends here for regular weekend coffees and catch-ups. Cafe Discovery is one not to be missed by any visitors or locals!! read more
