When you enter they require to see your ID. They then enter you into a system and assign you a swipe card. You need the swipe card to buy things. No cash is exchanged until you are leaving the bar. At that point you go to a cashier. Everyone must hand I their card and pay the fee (pro tip: if you are a couple, put some drinks on each card, as otherwise you will be stuck with an admission fee on the zero balance card), then you get a token to leave, which is carefully examined by the bouncers. There was a R$15 charge to get in, which is super reasonable with htel live band--actually, ridiculously cheap by American standards, given the current exchange rate that makes it $3.75 for entrance. Word to the wise: The bathrooms are in a sub-upstairs area from the main upstairs area (if you're on the second floor, you'll see what I mean). Surprisingly clean for an Irish pub. They also use a card system where, upon entry, they give you a card to which you'll charge all your food and drinks, and then pay at booths on the way out. Even though it was a bit crowded, the place had a very friendly environment. People weren't pushing you out of the way or anything like that, which was refreshing. When the burgers arrived I was so excited to try it, as I've only heard great things. I took the first juicy bite and yummmmmm it was delicious, without a doubt top 3 best burgers I've had in Brazil! We were fortunate enough to meet the owners as well and they were the cherry on top. So accommodating and suggested the black bread bun which went perfect with my burger. Initially started off as a huge disappointment since we arrived and were told we were not within the "5 minute" grace period so they gave up our table. I am confused at how an establishment can require credit card reservation and give up seats so easily. Truthfully, I believe this place has no respect for Americans visiting. Upon being forced to wait outside, I saw several Brasilian customers arrive and able to be seated without a wait. I would think at such a famous bar, customer service would be a priority but it is not. While outside waiting we decided to go ahead and order hello suckers drink and elegance. The hello sucker was supposed to be less on the sweet side with a combo of tequila blanco, vodka pimenta, dry vermouth. The drinks arrived and honestly was bad. It taste like very bad chicken broth. Finally, we were able to be seated inside. The ambiance is very simple and seating is jam packed with you right next to your neighbor. I told the waitress about the first drink I had, she suggested the Kiss of Life drink which has seco, Johnnie Walker and said this would be better. I gave it a try but it what slightly better than my previous drink. We ordered some food such as gyoza de porco, wonton de camaro and aka teba (fried chicken). The entire meal was probably the worst meal I've had in São Paulo so far. I'm not sure how this place became number 24 on top 50 Bar list but it is a scam. And if you are visiting São Paulo, it is not worth the stress of visiting. There are plenty of restaurants with better food and better drinks.
