This is a cafe with a bistro feel to it, it's clean, comfortable and spacious and the staff are welcoming and friendly. In terms of choice and value this is maybe the best all round cafe in the town centre, prices are cheap in comparison to the likes of the Marlowes Cafe further up the road and the menu is vast. It also has a stone oven for authentic tasting pizza. Shirellas suffers a bit by being slightly out of the way of the main working/shopping part of the town centre area, sometimes cafe's that aren't very busy can be strangely unappealing but I wholly recommend you try breakfast or lunch here. I'd have rated Shirellas with full marks if they offered proper chips instead of fries and had better quality condiments the ketchup on the tables tastes very cheap.

The chicken was sooooo dry, you could hear the meat split as you pulled it, and had to use a steak knife to cut through, totally inedible. The pasta was like the texture when you cook dinner and go back to it later on, dry, congealed and stuck together with minimum flavour. The veggies were soggy and beige and tasteless, like when people boil all colour and taste out of them. Just yuck. Left it, a tenner down the drain, and just making some toast for my dinner. Not on really, totally substandard. Such a shame. But minging. I got it delivered, but you can imagine if it were served on a plate in a restaurant. The meat was really good quality, the burger was super tasty. The side salad was lush. With "posh" coleslaw. Chips were decent and chunky and not oily. Mixed grill was tasty. Former outdoor artificial ski slope. Had several slopes including large full length slope, half…read morelength slopes, learner slopes and wavy slopes. All ski lifts were drag lifts. Ski equipment rental and sales as well as a Snow+Rock shop and cafe/bar were located at the base of the slope. I have always found the staff to be very friendly when fitting your skis, and have very rarely encountered queues of more than a couple of people. Good fun, but quite expensive. Can be annoying when ski lessons are going on as they tend to block the slopes and cause queues at the lifts (another favourite is falling off the lift). Is currently being rebuilt as an indoor centre which will have real snow.
