Yelp Review 2025 #167:…read more One of Latam's 50 Best Restaurants and Michelin Big Gourmand is A Casa do Porco or the House of the Pig. Aptly named since they raise their own pigs in a farm and they make sure they follow practices that are humane and sustainable. Feeding people with respect to the environment. They use the whole pig and nothing gets wasted. I made a dinner reservation a month in advance through their website. It was a simple process. I stopped by for lunch too and there was a line out the door for people without reservations. They do have a takeout window to the side of the restaurant if you want something like a sandwich. You can do their tasting menu or do a la carte. It'll end up cheaper if you did the tasting menu than a la carte. However, I have been eating my way around São Paulo and I knew I would be struggling to finish a lot of food plus, I had a 7am flight the next day. So, I ordered a la carte. I wanted the San Ze Pig (roast pig) but it's too much food. Torresmo de Pancetta + Goiabada + Picles de Cebola Roxa: Crispy pork cracklings topped with a thick sauce made with pickled red onions, and guava. You get 6 pieces. Definitely get this. It was crispy, salty and sweet. Sushi de Papada de Porco + Tucupi Negro + Ameixa fermentada: Pork sushi brushed with black tucupi (sauce made from fermented manioc which looks and tastes similar to balsamic vinegar) and fermented plum. It looks like unagi nigiri. You get 4 pieces per order. I was not given utensils. The items I ordered were meant to be eaten using your fingers. The interior and exterior seem very casual. There's graffiti outside the building and inside the restaurant. Even when you look in Google Maps, it doesn't look like it's a restaurant but an abandoned building. By the time I contemplated adding the San Ze Pig, I was already done with my meal and it was time for me to go back to the hotel. You can check out their menu on their website which you could translate to English to save time on making your selections. They also have menus in English if you ask for it. Service was great and helpful. It was nice light dinner.

Yelp Review 2025 #162:…read more Despite Anthony Bourdain not being around anymore, having watched his shows that I still rewatch til this day, I make it a mission to try places he's been. He has not steered me wrong so far. As soon as I landed in São Paulo, I hopped on a taxi to have my first meal in Bar do Mane with bags in tow. I got here at 11am and they still had plenty of empty tables - they do take up a lot of space in Mercado Municipal de São Paulo which means more tables and chairs for their diners. Scan the QR code that's on the table to see the menu. I already knew what I wanted to get so, I waived one of the servers over to place my order. There's only one thing you SHOULD get from here anyway: their famous mortadella sandwich...ok, maybe, try their bacalhau too. Under 10 minutes later, I got my food. Mortadella Sandwich: They come in 2 sizes: regular and large. Trust me, the regular sandwich will fill you up. If you're sharing with another person, get the large. Layers upon layers of thinly sliced mortadella with melted gooey cheese on top that you can literally see melting towards the layers of salty mortadella - all on a soft bun. The sandwich comes pre-sliced which makes it easier to share or take the other half home/ to your hotel. They're generous with the mortadella. The sandwich is about 48 Brazilian Reais which is under $10. The cheese is incredible. It's a squeaky kind of cheese even though the color looks like it's cheddar cheese. I asked for a box for my leftover. They boxed it up for me and put it in a bag. I ate the other half the next day - cold. It would've been better warmed up for sure. Most hotels don't really have a microwave unless you're staying at an Airbnb or an apartel. The service was ok. All you have to do is wave somebody over if you need anything. Sitting there waiting for things to fall on your lap will leave you sitting there for over an hour.

Came here for the super hyped mortadella, an Italian cold cut that is best described as luxurious…read morebologna. To me, it was a little too salty and too meaty. But that just might be how the sandwich is. I got the small (there's a large option too) but it took me two meals to finish it. I also got a strawberry juice, which was fresh and countered the salty taste of the meat. This restaurant is located in the Mercado Municipal - a large, historic market in Sao Paulo for its cold cuts, fruits, and other stalls. Staff is sweet and prompt and service moves quickly.
