Best, best, bestest There are not enough superlatives to describe this authentic Italian place. I've been a regular there for the last 2 years and it always feels as if I'm in Italy: friendly Italian staff, very relaxed and homely vibe, quirky mis-matched furniture, many regulars such as myself (we've all started to get to know each other by now). all these would be reasons enough to visit this place on a regular basis but there is more, much, much more!
The coffee is by far the best in town absolutely no exaggeration there! The food is well, you have to try it just once to know what I'm talking about: I've only ever had their panins and vegetable platter but we are talking about proper Italian home-made food, the kind that my grandma used to cook (obviously it makes it unsuitable for anyone who dislikes garlic but, hey, those kinds of people usually don't order Mediterranian food anyway). I mentioned panini home-made ciabatta is fantastic but what makes the panini really special is the fact that you can just put anything from the cooked selection in there: garlicky courgettes, grilled peppers, meetballs, roast beef, grilled aubergine, mushrooms etc. etc (too much to chose from). just prepare for the festival of flavours you've never tasted before outside the borders of Italy.
Another great thing is that their entire first floor is children-friendly, with a stair gate in place and a cupboard full of toys. Admittedly, this area is not as nice as the downstairs, but it's a real life saver for anyone with toddlers and small children as you can relax and let them roam about, without worrying (as all of us parents always do) about them annoying other people. In fact this is a place where I regularly arrange to meet up with my friends even if they don't have children because that's the only place where I can have a proper catch up with them because my two-year old won't harrass us.
All in all, this place is a gem, if I could, I'd give it 10 stars! read more
