A pleasant surprise to receive a raw cappelletto as "gran mother revenge" and the super hot pumpkin with balsamic vinegar and parmigiano reggiano cream. The best starters ever part of the whole get ready for what to come. My tagliatelle pasta, freshly made in the kitchen really followed my grand mother's receipt both for the pasta and especially for the ragù sauce. Served in a stellar perfectly prepared plate. Super good. The branzino with onions and pine seeds were just an impressive crunchy and soft ensemble enriched with a creamy lemon custard. All the flavor you would think would clash were instead singing together in a perfect food orgasm. Really something to try. I had also "lingua salmistrata" which is a very old local tradition. It is cow tongue prepared to perfection and as the rest of the dishes, enriched with the exotic flavors. Great job Marta. Desserts are the final touch to a great dining experience. Let yourself guide from the host advices and indulge with questions. Everyone is eager to explain and detail the reason of each and every ingredient. Top notch service. The sommelier goes with experience and great manners through the wine list which is really spectacular and perfectly matched to Marta's cooking. Ambience is very lean, relaxed and spacious letting you concentrate on the food experience and have a great relaxed conversation with your dining companion/s. Nothing better than not being rushed and be able to appreciate every detail. Do ask, and you receive a great smiling pleasant narrative answers which connect the food tastes to the local rich traditions. It is by far my most favorite place in a city where food is religion and local ingredients are kings. Well done Marta.... who stays in the kitchen but comes out to greet and have a chat before you leave for the evening. The menu is not huge but there are plenty of other gems which I will want to try the next times. Not cheap but definitely way below normal price standards for the incredible quality and cooking accuracy and innovative ideas. Definitely need to call in advance to book your table, even if you are in a party of 2. SUPER WELL DONE MARTA.

Walked by this place in the afternoon looking for the laundromat and arrived just as they closed…read morefor the afternoon siesta so we were unable to grab some lunch. We decided to go for a late dinner as we had enjoyed what we had seen at the tail end of the lunch service. What a great choice! We were seated at a table for two across from the pass through from the kitchen. Normally I would not be overly pleased with this seat location, but the sheer volume of activity made it the place to be. We watched as a large number of dishes at a time were assembled and whisked off to their awaiting guests. We ordered a bottle of red wine from our server, an older Gentleman that clearly was one of the people in charge of the floor. We determined a couple of appetizers and ordered from him our selections. He immediately made us aware that our selections were not what we should order, given our wine selection and the specialties of the house. He couldn't have been more right as our appy's of spinach and pumpkin stuffed ravioli's in a butter sauce and tortellini in brodo (chicken broth) was outstanding. The lovely K found the brodo on the salty side, but I found it to be terrific. We make our own chicken stock at home, painstakingly using old fashioned methods, no salt added and found that this broth had a depth of flavour that is difficult to replicate. The ravioli's were superb, the pasta beautiful and delicate and the filling amazing. Our secondi, we had breaded veal for myself and grilled rib eye for K. We got to chatting with a German couple and her Father as our second course arrived and did not finish either. That said both were well prepared and although the only things on the plate (we passed on the accompaniments off the cart as we were already getting full) they were again perfectly prepared. The atmosphere is what one would expect from a place that caters to families, especially on a the Sunday of a long weekend. The following day was a national holiday (Liberation Day) so spirits were high, and the volume loud. People wander from table to table visiting. We watched a Grandpa, Grandma and Mother walk around with a baby each taking turns while the others visited. It was a heartwarming and stomach satisfying experience in the middle of Italy that we will not soon forget. Dining in places like this is what Italy and family dining is all about. To illustrate this further the German couple and her Father we met by chance as they were at the table beside us we will be dining with in Rome later on this week, how does it get better than that.

Nice Reggio restaurant that I imagine is one of the spots the locals like to go to. Unpretentious,…read morewell-made regional cuisine.

If you like anchovies, try the antipasti Acciughe Del Mar Cantabrico S. Fillippo con burro dell'Az Agr. Fiandino! Simple and absolutely delicious! Good Italian cooking is all about showcasing the best and finest ingredients. And this does just that. You can't go wrong with any of the pizza....seriously they're ALL good! The owner is wonderful and friendly! I made friends with his niece who was also amazing. It's at the top of my list for restaurants that are a MUST TRY in Reggio Emilia

The perfect Pizza in Reggio Emilia... really... ohhh.. yes.. really!!…read moreThe pizzeria is quite small, better if you try to book as it gets full very fast, specially weekends or those evening when people love to go out... and if there is a theatre performance... (two theatres are nearby) it gets VERY crowded. Pizza is just the best in town. A large choice of different toppings and also different sizes.. which is unusual for Italian pizza.. but here you can and also they have choice of bianca (no tomatoes) and thin, super thin to just thick. If you go for the classic margherita you won't get anyway disappointed. Fresh ingredients and very nicely cooked even if they do not use a wood oven. They definitely mastered the electrical oven cooking. Ample choice of many other dishes, which I heard are good but you definitely want to end up here for the pizzaaaaahhhhhh!!! Any type of drink you want... beer, coke.. wines... just pick. Everyone is very very nice and service is great, quite speedy even if place is full.
