Just arrived in Berlin, and this cafe located 3min walk from our rental was coming up tops in yelp searches, and now having eaten there, can see why. The Ginger tea was FABULOUS! Whoever developed the menu chose a honey that just perfectly complemented the ginger, and it was not over-sweet or too-honeyish or overwhelmed the taste of the ginger. Make sure you get this, it was better than what I have ever made myself at home. (I was so tempted to ask to take the ginger slices back to our rental appt, so I could reuse it and make myself some more of the lovely ginger tea, but shyness and manners prevailed).
Our party of three got a big breakfast, prosciutto panini and a caprese panini. For drinks we got the aforementioned ginger tea, a macchiato (excellent!) and a mango-apple-ginger fresh juice (beautiful taste, and all freshly squeezed). For the big breakfast, it was a really lovely prosciutto, salami and cheese selection and the most perfect soft boiled egg I have ever had. The olives, sundries tomato and capers rounded off this meal, and were accompanied by olive bread, and a selection of breads with pine nuts and cranberries. And this was topped off by a sprinkling of micro herbs over the mild blue cheese - all so delicious! I would totally recommend this.
I didn't get to taste the caprese panini, but my dining companion loved her mozella. I got my prosciutto panini on the sundried tomato bread (other choices were olive and provincial herbs) and I really enjoyed the combo, with the sweetness of the bread complimenting the saltiness of the prosciutto. I loved the watercress greens, and there was also some cheese bits - all the food complimented each other perfectly.
Oh, there is also free wifi (with excellent speed), the service was brilliant and our servers answered questions about places to check out in Berlin very happily. I think if there was just one thing I would love to have included on the menu would be soups, especially as this was a cold winters day! But all in all, an excellent way to start off our Berlin visit! read more
