Eggs Benedict with Bacon and their homemade Soda Bread
Sabrina Y.

A beautiful two story restaurant with a cozy atmosphere. The walls are filled with a lot of paintings with different styles that's interesting to see and you can choose to sit anywhere from a regular table to a sofa. Their bathroom is on the ground floor, near the counter. They sell lots of sweet treats with a hot drink, but you can also order a nice meal for breakfast, brunch or lunch. They have a variety of sandwiches with plenty of bread choices and most of their breakfast menu includes their homemade soda bread that is worth a try. They also have the "best crisps ever" according to my friend. We did come at a busy time, so the food took longer than we anticipated to come out. But everything was wonderful. I chose the "Eggs Benedict" and it came with hearty slices of bacon and beautiful soft boiled eggs. My friend ordered their "Smart Vegetarian Panini" that comes with a salad, coleslaw (which was almost like potato salad instead) and crisps. If you order from their "Smart Lunch" menu you have a choice between a sandwich, wrap, toastie, bap, panini/flatbread. Each choice has a different price. We also shared the French Toast with Cinnamon, Berry Compote and Greek Yogurt. I loved every second of it, but the strawberry in the berry compote was my favorite part. It was so sweet. The Greek yogurt helped the balance out the sweetness. You pay downstairs after the meal and they take credit cards!

This photo doesn't do it justice. Lovely sarnie.

Lazy Claire Patisserie - Coffee eclair

Lazy Claire Patisserie

In between my three visits separated by a whole year, I can't believe I'm still the first to review…read morethis exceptional patisserie... the definitive hidden gem! I honestly didn't expect to find such top notch French pastries in Northern Ireland (and see my French patisserie list in case you think I've not had my share!!). But, I looked through Instagram pictures of Lazy Claire in July 2018, checked a bunch of websites, found nothing on them (they've since developed a strong reputation locally), and walked in to find delectable made-from-scratch pastries. The surprise didn't end there. The owner, Daniel, introduced himself to me and told me that he's originally from Alabama... though he did learn his craft at Angelina in Paris. I'm glad I walked in, per habit, around the time a bakery opens (9 am in this case on weekdays). Glad because I was the first customer. The guy after me looked around the display cases and casually asked for 4 butter croissants and 5 chocolate croissants (or vice versa). I turned around to look at him and exclaimed: you bought everything! He pretended as if he didn't know. Though he clearly did (given the mismatched order size). Daniel laughed and told me I'd been lucky. He's a wonderful conversationalist and I spent an hour chatting up with him as he shared his experience of living and operating a business in Belfast. The croissants were flaky with layers of rolled dough, but the shatter effect was more prominent the day Daniel was working. (I'm not dinging the other bakers, they were considerate people having recognized me from back to back visits) I also tried the macarons, but loved the Millefeuille and pistachio eclairs more. I wish I'd been there around December to try the Black Forest bûche de Noël. It looked lovely on Instagram. The New Yorker in me believes one can walk around any city in the world, but I'd forgotten all about "the troubles" on my way to the patisserie. If you're a tourist and don't know your way around the city, be prepared to cab it back to your hotel. Lazy Claire is a can't miss experience in Belfast. Even though, you're probably there for the GoT tours...

The rugged brick and wood, the very fancy lighting, there has been a lot of care, thought and attention to detail put into the decor and I'm always a fan of nice decor. This place is very popular with always someone in, which is why I thought I'd give it a try. I also can never resist a window seat in a coffee shop for people watching, and one had just become free. What I'm not a fan of so much is being ignored by staff and hard scones. I stood at the counter waiting to be served so long I was almost embarrassed, as two trendy and attractive boys leaned over the back counter trying to fix something on their phone. I don't mean to have a go about phones as mine is practically surgically attached, but hello, coffee needed. Eventually a girl came out of the kitchen and served me instead, caffeine in means calm in. The coffee was nice enough, but the scone was hard and dry. They had so many on display perhaps they just aren't selling them quickly enough. Or perhaps it is how I ended up feeling about the place generally- a little style over substance. I like style, but I like nice food too.

It feels like a little community, bustling with locals who all seem to know each other, and welcomed by staff who are so nice you are convinced you must have met them before. Serving a mixture of breakfast treats and lunch favourites like a good old toastie to sausage, beans and chips they have something for everyone. so long as that 'everyone' likes a good feed. They even do salads for the calorie concious, but I've never tried them as their full breakfast is a hug on a plate and probably the only non-greasy one I've tried in town. They also do a posher evening menu on Friday and Saturday nights which is BYO, and by the breakfast and lunches I've enjoyed, it is bound to be a winner.

I recently brought family here who opted for the large grill (fry) which was cooked really well and was very clean, no greasy items!! I opted for the Mighty Chorizo for a change and it was amazing. Two pieces of ciabatta topped with a delicious tomato sauce with peppers, courgette, onion and chorizo finished with two poached eggs (cooked to perfection). Made a nice change to the tradition breakfast items and is one I would defiantly recommend. All in all a great local eatery

After years of going in that has changed for the first time. As with everything these days the prices have crept up, especially in terms of the lunch specials. OK, that's to be expected these days. But there a 'meal deal' in there now for £12 or so! Not long ago that was a basic restaurant price, the specials are now around the £5 mark and gone is the awesome £3. I could live with that, but I got the club sandwich. It was tiny and bland.... With a club you expect the double layers... not in this case... just the 2 rounds of bread, and they were very poorly filled at that. I'll definitely be back... I won't give up on a stalwart like this after 1 bad experience... but with the hike in prices there needs to be an understanding there be a hike... and certainly not a drop, in delivery!

As eluded to Arthur's is in a really handy location beside Montgomery Street Car park and only a short dander from Victoria Square.s iWith loads of neighboring offices I suspect Arthur's is rammed in the morning and at lunch time but luckily for me I visited around 2:30pm and there were only a few other customers. As soon as I walked in I was asked 'what I would like?' and to be honest I hadn't even worked that out in my head yet so I just blurted out Americanno! I like the prompt sty;e of the staff in here - no messing about - gimmie your order! The coffee was great - very strong which is just what I needed before a meeting. I even got myself a wee pecan slice as there was a lonely one left in a basket just staring at me at the counter. So I had to, you know yourself! Anyway, it's a big old thumbs up from me for Arthur's and who knows it might even get that extra star when I sit in!
