*** It should be noted that this is Café Shisha's new location near Tennessee and Appleyard. Many (if not all prior to mine) are based on the old location. With only two hookah spots in Tallahassee and the constant demand to "club" without "clubbing", this place will keep a crowd. They are doing all of the right things. Yes, the hookah quality can be better. I actually like the quality better at this business' competitor but the vibe is unbeatable. Relaxed but loud. Yes I meant relaxed but loud. The décor, lighting, and seating offer a relaxed environment but on some nights, there is a DJ after 10 so it gets loud. This place is also dimly lit comfortable. There is a dance floor right in the middle for those looking to "cut a rug" and boooooyyy do they start cuttin'! So should I add...people watching as a "pro"? This location did another good thing by adding alcohol to the menu. The older location did not have a liquor license. The selection is extremely small but nonetheless alcohol is an option. The hookah prices are reasonable and there is a small menu of food items. Staff are friendly and attentive. TIP: Arrive by 10 on DJ nights or you risk getting charged at the door. read more

Food: This place is a hidden gem for great food. They have a renowned seasoning very popular to Tallahassee natives. My favorite items to order that I can't get enough of are chicken wings with fried okra, extra seasoning on both! Ambience: Cafe Shisha has a relaxed and moody vibe that is perfect for relaxing or turning up. Staff: The staff is so welcoming and sweet. They really go above and beyond for their customers. The bathroom is DISGUSTING and UNSANITARY during a pandemic! There was FECES on the wall and several flies in the bathroom. I can imagine how the kitchen and cooking area must look, probably nasty as well. Wouldn't eat from here and it's barely a hookah bar, it's more like a club now. read more

I love this place. Monday night is the best night to go - because there isn't a dang thing to do in Tallahassee on a Monday night and this place stays open pretty late. Grab a few cool friends and go to this hookah bar and share some of the many shisha (flavored tobacco) offered from a communal hookah. You can chat it up while sitting on the floor, pillows, or tables. I love the corner spot in the back room. If you are there, I'm gonna find a way to bump you! No worries even though you are "sharing" a communal hookah there are mouth pieces given to every individual. Also you are smoking tobacco - but don't worry about it smelling like a bus stop or nightclub. It's normally pretty sweet tasting and this place can get you a little lightheaded - really relaxed. They also have a decent bar. I've never ordered a drink (but somehow always want one when I get home from here). I almost feel uncomfortable giving this place a review but I feel like I need to so no one will be as surprised as I was. To put it simply, if you're older than 25 you have no business here on a Friday night. It's a full blown colleged-aged club that just happens to have hookah and pre-mixed drinks. Things to remember for Friday night: 1) The DJ plays current, popular southern rap music. If that's not your thing, DON'T GO. 2) The crowd is young, black college students that are barely 21. If that's not your thing, DON'T GO. 3) There isn't a full bar. Only about 3 mixed drinks and beers...until they run out. 4) The crowd is super young and wild, they were knocking over hookah lamps and drinks. 5) They run out of hookah and won't say a word at the door before you pay. All the hookah is the same flavor. 6) Free mixed drink with $10 cover or free hookah...if they have it. Had a fun time here. Saturday's from 11-2 they have a DJ, and the atmosphere is lit! They've also recently introduced Tally Pineapple Express as an addition on Saturday's. If you've never had food from there, you're missing out! Super delicious. My server was off at first, but once she got the hang of things we had a great time. It gets packed early, so come before 10:30 to be sure of a seat. Once it hits 11, I believe they begin charging a cover fee. The music and food make this a great option for Saturday's. You can dress casual, which is right up my alley. So if you're looking for something to do Saturday night, I definitely recommend it. read more

This place has the best staff within the Tallahassee Community (Kristina was wonderful). When you first walk into this establishment you get a sense of the Middle East at your finger tips. The owner does a great job to bringing the authenticity of the Middle Eastern culture with a American twist. You immediately get swept off on a magic carpet and transported to another fun and relaxing universe. Esquisit pillows provide comfort while enjoying your smoke session wth family or friends. I was quite fond of the pharaoh's tomb display located close to the center of the room and not at awkward places within the building. I don't know if you have ever been to places and immediately you think "no". Instead I believe the thought behind the layout was excuted correctly. My friend and I sat at the back corner (close to the VIP) section. We were joined by two other people that enjoye the atmosphere and service as much as we did. By the way, if you have a large party, the VIP room would accommodate your parties need. Kristina our waitress made great recommendations and provide great information on how to get the full experience at the Cafe. The flavors you can choose are great also. So if you are dying to try something with a edge this will probably satisfy your craving. Since it was two of us we decided to get a hookah with two stems and one of them had a snake mouthpiece. Super cool. The smoke was fresh and not that nasty after taste. Apparently on Tuesdays it's all you can smoke for a very good price. The hours are great also because if you are a night owl the cafe doesn't open until 7:00pm and goes into the late hours. Our coal was good for some hours and we didn't have to change it often. The good, the bad, the ugly. I figured going to the hookah bar would be something new and fun to do. Had guests in town and really didn't want to have to do the same old thing. I had never been, nor do I smoke so I was really looking forward to a couple of other things, the belly dancing and the relaxed atmosphere. The bad: perhaps we got in there too late, but I thought the belly dancing would have lasted pretty much all night and maybe with more than one girl. The dancer seemed like she may have been overwhelmed with hopping around as she didn't have any rhyme or reason with her performance. I wasn't entertained. The good: Although I don't smoke, I sampled the experience and found that it was pretty cool. I think we had some kind of blueberry smoke. There's plenty of seating so right away, it was easy to come in, plop down and relax. Gotta love sitting on the floor to get away from formal tables and chairs. You have enough room for privacy from the group next to you so you're not interrupted and can just enjoy the atmosphere. The ugly: The bathroom was filthy, there weren't any paper goods in there and the idiot that used paper towels to clog the toilet ruined it for everyone. We were there for about 2 hours and no one bothered to refresh it either. More bad: Soooo, apparently they have drinks but the server chick told us they had run out of vodka and that "it's not even bottom shelf quality." She said all of their liquor is unnamed and steered us against ordering anything. Yeaaaah...perhaps this place could use a little help from Bar Rescue. I think I saw food somewhere but it just became icky to imagine. Some good: I'm sure this is a favorite for a younger crowd (who don't care about clean restrooms, quality drinks or traditional entertainment) however this place has sooo much potential, it'd be great if someone just stepped it up a bit then it'd be a cool little spot. read more

I'm here practically every week! Andrew, who manages the place, is always friendly and greets guests. Especially the regulars. Guy practically has a permanent smile on his face. Servers are stupendous and never stop serving you the best way they can! While also leaving you time to yourself and friends. They get to know the guest as well. Favors rock and they have the best playlists of music. $10 all you can smoke Tuesday's are a must and the belly dancer here is just supreme. I went here with a friend yesterday for some lunch and hookah around 5:30. It was pretty empty, other than a couple people on the other of the room. First of all the ambiance is really cool. Nice, worn cushions all over the floors and low couches so you can lounge and really relax. It feels like your friend's living room- super chill. The food was great. Chicken with a side of pita bread and hummus. Super yummy. And the service was awesome, too. The girls were really nice and one even stood and chatted with my friend and I about our tattoos, getting our advice on where to go, etc. All in all, everything I've mentioned thus far gets 5 stars. Here's the thing-- the actual hookah? REALLY hard to pull from. Like, I didn't get to smoke as much as I wanted because I got a headache, and eventually, nauseous from trying so hard to pull in smoke. I asked my friend what she thought and she shrugged and said "well we DID get the cheapest one..." it was $25. I expect something I can actually enjoy for $25. And I'm not a hookah amateur. I know what it's supposed to be like. So that was indescribably disappointing. All in all the place was so cool, I have to rate it something somewhat decent. To start, I REALLY wanted to love this place. My friend smokes hookah all the time, so when I'm in town we always go to smoke hookah. Café Shisha happened to be closer to where I was staying so we decided to try it. The ambiance is really relaxing, and on Friday's they have a DJ come in and play music. It does get a little loud, so if you want a more quiet scene, plan to go earlier. Supposedly there are belly dancers on the weekend. I got the most popular flavor (forgot what it was called). At first, it was REALLY good Shisha, better than other places I have been to. However 30 minutes in it turned overwhelmingly strong.. I couldn't even ask the waiter about it because we only saw her once the whole time we were there, and we were there for two hours! Overall, Cafe Shisha is a relaxing place to spend an evening smoking hookah with a few friends, with a couple caveats. The beer is cheap and good, but the cocktails are simply poorly made using bad liquor. In addition, try to use as few bowls and hoses as possible, as the bill starts to add up dangerously quickly, and needlessly, if you are not attentive. The staff is friendly but frustratingly unobservant if more than a couple groups are present. Just know what you are getting into before you show up here. read more

I love this place! My friends and I came here to have a relaxing evening and Cafe Shisha did not disappoint! The staff was very attentive, the music was beautiful, the flavors were great, and the food was great as well! There was a belly dancer and she was a wonderful performer. Went here a number of times and had a great time. The servers were very attentive and the shisha was great. Last visit my friend and I ordered the more pricey setup with the a fruit bowl on top and a choice of a different base. I'd recommend this setup especially if it's your first time as the hookah smokes amazing. First of all, the ambiance here is great! Seating is plenty and comfortable. You don't feel crowded by other people. The music is also good and the belly dancer is great! She has a wonderful presence and is super friendly! You can get up and dance with here and she'll teach you some of her moves. The food is horrible, the drinks are horrible and this place does not wash their hookahs. All of the food is bought frozen and cooked in the microwave or comes out of a can (the stuffed grape leaves in particular). Because they do not have a liquor licence, all of the 'liquors' are in fact high alcohol content orange wine that is flavored to taste like the various liquors. When washing the hookahs, no soap or cleaning agents are used, so that a film of gunk builds up (which is never cleaned). When they get too dirty they are just thrown away. read more
