You can smell the perfume of coffee roasting from outside, before seeing the place. It's slightly…read moreoff hand for Cologne, close to the edges, so probably not a place a tourist would willingly venture to. Yet the coffee is excellent and the price is fair. I especially like their well-made capuccino (even with soy milk). I haven't tried many of their coffee sorts, but there is a huge selection for all machines and of all kinds (I bought Espresso Napolitano). One can find their coffee in several places in the city. Go if you're a true coffee fan, or if, like me, you spent some time in Italy and miss a good cup. (There is also coffee to go and they sell reusable cups with a free refill. Clearly not a place for working especially when the roasting machine is on, but it has a nice coffeechurchcult kind of atmosphere.)

There was plenty of seating inside, and they even have a back patio with more seating. The cafe is full of old relics and vintage furniture, which gives it a cozy vibe. The ambience was very relaxed. I had the caramel cheesecake and scrambled eggs. The cheesecake might have been the best cheesecake I've ever had! The scrambled eggs were delicious - with fresh salad and goat cheese. My husband had a croissant and cappuccino - and was notably stealing off my plate!

5 Stars for great espresso-based coffee drinks in a cool environment…read more I was looking for a good coffee shop in Koln and saw a different coffee shop listed at this location. Luckily, it was Meinstein and not just closed! This is a short walk from the old city, no bus or car necessary. It's on a non-descript corner, so you'll likely find folks who sought it out. The inside is bright and modern, and they serve a great oatmilk cap. We enjoyed it by the window, chatted with the super friendly owner, and vowed to return one day. Easy 5 stars!

The only downside is they close at 5pm on weekdays and they're closed on weekends.
