Of course they offer great casseroles, and they're made fresh per your order. What amazes me is the sheer speed of serving these piping hot dishes. They must have some super duper convection ovens to bake these casseroles from scratch. We didn't try this this time, but they will make casseroles of any combination from the list of ingredients. That's just amazing to me. Not just their food is great, but the service here was wonderful. Our server was a very pleasant and friendly young lady. She explained to us that it's a family-owned restaurant since 1991. So, the food and service are great, but this restaurant also offers a very nice cozy interior with warm atmosphere and chic interior decorations. Overall excellent dining experience in a very unique setting. If you are in Würzburg, you must try this restaurant. For a small portion casseroles, there's 2€ discount for lunch (MON - FRI, 12:00 - 14:00). Students and children receive complimentary small soft drinks--what a deal!!

We went in and we did not have reservations, but they sat us in the bar area (at a table that regulars usually use). The food was delightful (schnitzel, pork shoulder, and wurst). I came across this hidden gem through reddit. This restaurant is nestled up on one of the side streets more in an alleyway. I ordered an aperol spritz as well as a full order of the Braised onion soup which had franconia onion sauce and delicious homemade potato balls *chefs kiss* my mother had the same but half the portion including the wine soup which she loved! Definitely wish I could've ordered more off the menu! The portions are very generous, loved the cozy ambiance and the unique charm this place had! As I walked out, I seen nothing but cheerful people in groups with friends/family eating and drinking, it definitely felt like more of a home Backöfele is a MUST when in Würzburg, remember to make reservations, this place fills up on the quickness and I could see why!

I truly felt that the food taste and quality was what I experienced in Ankara and Istanbul. I had Ciftlik Güvec and my wife had the similar veggie dish. The staff were all very friendly (looks to be a family establishment). We were in search for Iskender (not all places have it) but we didn't see it on the menu (though there were plenty of other tasty sounding choices). Our server was very helpful and pointed out their special. Their version is made from ground meat instead of the more traditional Döner. This was even better! And the tomato sauce and yogurt were not all runny, which was also a plus. All in all, if you're up for a delightful dinner experience and some excellent food, I highly recommend a stop by. It was also easy walk from the Nr.5 tram stop at Sanderring.
