The dishes are clearly inspired by the local cuisine, but taken to the next level, and so it does not surprise that the Guide Michelin awarded this restaurant a star years ago, and the place has never lost it since. The chef trained with Paul Haeberlin and some other famous French masters, and you can immediately see the French influence anywhere in the restaurant (including some of the staff coming from nearby Alsace). Surprisingly, the food is rather on the affordable side considering the quality and the way of preparation, and compared to other Michelin-starred restaurants, you should be able to strike a good deal. I would recommend the set chef's menu which comes in 6 or 7 courses and presents a great overview of the owner's capabilities. Highly recommended !

Happened upon this place by chance, as many of the best things in life are, to find the amusing…read moreowner Graham who was presiding over the monthly Paella. Yes an incongruous dish for the Scharwartzvalde but so popular in town that it was booked solid for the 7:00 sitting. Graham combines perfect English being from England and German efficiency having lived there many years. Hint do not sit at the table reserved for daily townsfolk. We were invited by Graham inside where we ordered off the regular menu before the big event started. Tired and hungry after driving many hours it was a delight to sit down to good beer and great food. Had the Spargle in season with hollindaise sauce. Get 1/2 smoked ham half not with it. Pancakes are also traditional. Great Schnitzel too! The owner has quite a sense of humour and though very busy graciously spent some time with us. Excellent Apple strudel with ice cream ended the evening. Highly recommended.
