I used to go there quite often, since Café Lampe is located conveniently on my route to work and to the playground, also used to meet friends for breakfast .
I used to... The pastry is okay, and they have a decent coffee machine which sometimes goes broken. What bothers me is general attitude in Café Lampe: most waitresses are mostly annoyed to serve you or constantly in a bad mood, especially the older ones. Even though this place provides a baby chair, children do not seem to be welcome there, and you might get a cold shoulder and a killing look from the staff if, God forbids, your offspring misbehaves. Apparently, the target group of this establishment are people 60+, who occupy this place around lunch time, and often sit themselves to your table without asking for your permission. My advice is, do not come there if you can't communicate in German or speak with a strong accent, foreigners aren't especially welcome; if you are vegetarian or Muslim, and you would like to have customized breakfast without bacon - my friend just got a smaller portion excluding ham and bacon, no extra cheese or veggies; have babies or small kids. Better try the bakery just across the street (loved the service) or go to the less fancier café up street. read more
