A cool chill out bar in Waldshut !! Waldshut is a small city in Germany right across the swiss border (40 min from Zurich). At the weekend you see a lot of swiss people doing there shopping here. Cafe journal is a small bar in the main shopping street (really not big). It is more a nice coffee place where you can chill out. You can eat small stuf but it is not a restaurant. It is the most alternative bar in Waldshut :) The staff is cool and nice. But very German. They understand swiss german but not everything (for exemple: a "Stange" - not in their dictonary :) ) Off course you can read some newspaper there. As said, a coffee place to chill out. read more

This was the only place we could find with a tv to watch the Switzerland vs. Germany soccer game…read morewhile waiting for our dinner reservation at Fuya next door. Had to explain the concept of a dive bar to my German bf to describe this place. A bit smoky, as the owner himself was smoking (do they still allow smoking indoors in Germany??), but large and homey with lots of wood. Large windows let in lots of natural light. I enjoyed trying two kinds of German beer from the Black Forest, but then switched to a Radler so I wouldn't be too tipsy before dinner. Was curious about a bank of what looked like gambling machines along the entrance wall, but didn't get a chance to try them out. It was fairly quiet, with only one other customer when we arrived, but there was a steady stream of about 1-2 customers coming and going, so we weren't the only customers in the place. Two ladies came in and drank prosecco, while the guys of course stuck with beer. The menu had Italian pasta and different kinds of toast, but we didn't try any of the food. I thought it was a nice place to hang out and chill in an unknown town.

Anfangs fand ich die Auswahl an Frühstücksvarianten nicht schlecht. Leider bin ich, obwohl das Journal ja gut besucht ist etwas enttäuscht. Dies liegt an zwei, vielleicht so gar zusammenhängenden Dingen. Zum einen gibt es hier, für meinen Geschmack zu viel Tuschellei hinter dem Tressen und zum Anderen waren die Wartezeiten im Verhältnis zum anwessenden Personal die letzten paarmal einfach zu hoch. Obwohl das Personal eher freundlich ist, verträgt sich das einfach nicht mit den im oberen Bereich platzierten Preisen. read more

Am Anfang der wunderhübschen Fussgängerzone gelegen, lädt das Cafe-Pub Journal zum verweilen ein. Bei schönem Wetter lässt es sich direkt auf dem Platz sitzen und relaxen. Warme Küche (feine Burger) und WLAN runden den guten Eindruck ab. Preislich durchaus OK verdient das Journal 4 Sterne! read more

Hier werde ich öfters hingehen wenn ich frei habe. Hat leckere Burgers aber ehrlich gesagt ist der Käse im Cheeseburger gar nicht so lecker. Deshalb 4 Sterne. read more
