There were quite a few people in, all having a good time, but we had no problem finding a table beside the bar. The bartender was fantastic, friendly, open for conversation, and he made some great drinks. The cocktail menu is extensive, and very good value. I also enjoyed the beer called Fucking Hell, which was advertised as a special, also excellent value and very tasty. Then the bartender proceeded to tell me the funny story behind this beer and its name. All in all, a fantastic evening at a wonderful bar. I'll be back next time I'm in Berlin.

Or there may not. * * * Bartending is strong here. Other Yelpers say the house gin is excellent. I had a house creation, a port cocktail that was absolutely outstanding. It was reminiscent of a really fine Spanish or Argentine vermouth. * * * The downside of the Hat Bar is that the only seating is on stools. They really don't have a choice on this matter. The bar is microscopic - and narrow to boot. The band has to play in a space the size of two balance beams in a gymastics competition. They couldn't fit regular chairs into this establishment, Even if they wanted to. Worse, they need to have the maximum amount of seats to pay for the routine high expenses of a jazz club. So there are a lot of stools crammed in there. This is really NOT a space to get comfortable and mellow - Even if the beverage you are drinking is superlative. * * * I just don't get into good music if the seats are too uncomfortable. I have spent too many nights in the cheap seats in old school concert halls for classical music ... Where they make you take the stairs all the way up to the twelfth level balcony, There are four inches between your seat and the next row. Your knees are jammed up close to your body with your kneecaps at your nostrils. It doesn't matter that the orchestra is so far away that you can't hear them. Something told me to turn down a different way than I usually would. Walked by this little gem, and I knew I had to go in. Something about it. The bartender Stevie was extremely beautiful, and very trippy. She was super friendly and an absolutely unique gal. I told her how much I love the bar, and she said that I had to go and tell it to the man who was sitting outside. When I talked to him, I instantly fell in love. I knew right away that I had met someone that I wouldn't ever even come close to meeting again in this life. What a brilliant and sweet man he was, and I'm sad that I forgot his name. He sat and chatted with me about life there for the past 40 years. He speaks pure art, not a typical conversation, which I appreciate. He deserves to have a book written about himself. Excellent music, I just wish that I had some mushrooms while I was in there. But then again, you don't really need them. And besides that, I probably wouldn't have made it home. Had a couple of great beers, one of the most amazing hours of my life, and I can't speak more highly of this place. I wouldn't have minded staying a few more hours, but being the lightweight that I am... wouldn't have gone on so well to end nicely.
