I had an excellent micro-brew, as well as a well made burger with chips. The meal was prepared with care and was excellent. The service is low key (one orders at the bar, but the meals is delivered to the table), however the staff was super friendly and warm. Suffice to say, my decision to return the following evening was evidence of a good first impression. My repeat visit did not disappoint. If you're a burger snob, I wouldn't say that we're talking better than JG Mellon, or Carnegie Deli, but that would miss the point. This is a sweet unpretentious local spot that is doing their thing with care.

Spoilt my Sunday! My…read morepartner and I popped in here for a late Sunday breakfast feeling upbeat and happy. We left annoyed, angry and frankly it upset us. Why? Well because of rude and insolent service from a young lady on the till. Talk about nasty - she really should be awarded a gold medal for it. We ordered 2 breakfasts - mine was the carnivore option minus the eggs and beans, but I asked for some black pudding. "That'll be an extra 50p for the black pudding anyway" snapped back the young lady. Oh well, rules are rules I thought - I just want a breakfast. My partner opted for the vegetarian breakfast. Both breakfasts included toast. Mine also included a 'sausage patty' (this never arrived). Toast - well, in my experience this is usually delivered with butter. It didn't. I queried this with the charming young lady and she said "technically it doesn't come with butter". My response was "what - dry toast?" - answer : "did you actually ASK for butter?" Do you WANT butter?" Following my affirmative reply she turned heel and stomped off while my partner approached a far more amenable member of staff and secured some butter. When the charming young lady returned and I said we'd sorted the problem she rolled her eyes and again stomped off. So 20 quid for a mediocre breakfast but with free nastiness thrown in. Don't go here.

Whoop Der It is! First to Review! That's right y'all.... Hop on that tube and get on over to Roots!…read moreThey have great WiFi too! Roots is a super cute and modern coffee shop located in the city center of Chesham. While there are a few chain coffee shops in the area, I highly discourage you going there. The quality of coffee and service is just not the same as what you'll get here. Delicious latte and Almond Croissants, served by a gorgeous, tatted English guy. They need to make sure he works 7 days a week so we can catch him at work. Just sayin :-) I was here for both the caffeine fix and eye candy. Still not sure which was priority. Their selection of pastries is impressive, and left me a bit torn on having to choose just one item. You'll also notice that the plants inside are for purchase. I visited Roots on two separate occasions while staying with a friend in the area. They were very busy on the Saturday morning for breakfast. A lot of foot traffic, with families, and elderly couples. Pretty sure I stood out like a "hot guy from California" in the village, but oh well. OR the only Asian guy in town. This is a typical coffee shop you would find in San Francisco or Los Angeles. I'd totally camp out here with my laptop during my days off work if it was just a bit closer to home. Seating is mostly at the tables, but there is also a little lounge area with a large soft. Hint: If you sit here, you can stare at the gorgeous man behind the counter (perfectly normal bahavior). I wonder if they'll deliver a latte to Los Angeles.....

It is a little on the expensive side but you pay for what you get. The vibe is chill and they sell other extras like plants. Fully recommend going to Roots rather than one of the larger "those who will not be named" franchises. Whenever we go past there is always a buzz there. Whether that is a small group going in for lunch and some coffee or the individual person on their MacBook, clearly choosing to work in the comfort of Roots with good coffee close by. The outside seating is always a win on a hot day, especially paired with an iced coffee or tea.

This place is simply magical. Run with love by entrepreneur and owner Richard Elkington, a…read moreconsummate networker who makes everyone feel welcome, young and old. It's my favourite music and arts venue locally and wonderful for meet-ups, whether personal or business. Richard has a wide variety of events taking place, with art in abundance, regular gigs, a writing group, a book group, backgammon and on Thursday mornings it becomes "Ivan's Home" as a tribute to Richard's brother which is aimed at people who want to meet other people in the community, or those who might feel lonely or isolated. Cakes, tea and coffee are available and Becky Willoughby, a friendly Counsellor is present if you want to chat. The food is lovely, the coffee excellent, the staff welcoming and it's far superior to the corporate chains which litter Chesham. Do yourself a favour and discover this gem of a place

Personally I cannot stand this place, although to be fair some of my friends love it…read more The concept of a relaxed but classy cafe cum art gallery in the centre of Chesham is a good one, but this place just doesn't deliver. The food is mediocre at best, but often pretty revolting; and more disturbingly one is confronted by the 'art' wherever you look. I'm no prude, but the art here is essentially women, naked, and LOTS of them. Everywhere you look there are pudenda and breasts gazing back at you! OK, nothing wrong with the naked body, it's often very beautiful, but to be this obsessed with naked women hints at a bit of a problem to me. Why isn't there any other art? Why are there no naked male models? Why do I have to look at these boobs and genitalia for an hour whilst eating my lunch?? Well actually no I don't, do I, so once been never go back in my case - see what you think!
