The service was very friendly and English is spoken here. We decided to try a chocolate covered banana and a light cake topped with jellied berries which seems to be a common dessert here in Germany. We also ordered a cappuccino and milk coffee. The cashier was nice enough to give us a half off discount on the cake since it was a small slice and also gave us a glass of water at our request. The only things preventing it from being 5 stars is the lack of public restroom and wifi, but they do a darn good job of serving up savory treats and that's what counts the most

The people working were really sweet and patient with my bad German. I ordered at the counter, but once I told them I was dining in, they asked me to take a seat and they came to my table to ask if I wanted a drink and to bring my food once the quiche had been heated, and came back to take payment once I was finished - very attentive service! I ordered a Gemüse Quiche (veggie quiche with carrots and broccoli) and a slice of Fehmarnsche Schichtentorte (marzipan raspberry layer cake). The quiche was stuffed with carrots, which I liked, and the egg base was mild and creamy. The airiness of the cake and whipped frosting was nice with the rich marzipan. Sometimes vanilla cakes are too plain for me but the marzipan coating added a complexity that made this one very enjoyable for me. It wasn't overly sweet either so it didn't leave a sugary aftertaste. I had a few bites of some other cakes too and they were all of the same high quality, so I'd definitely recommend them for a special treat.

They also sell chocolate that I was told is made in the store. The better quality chocolates are about $48/kg or $22/lb. the food quality is really good a d they serve Seeberger coffee which is a good brand. I had cherry pie and it was great and I really enjoyed the coffee as well. They ran out of ingredients but also made me a ham and cheese sandwich which was very tasty that I had with beer before dessert. This place is a must of you ate in town.
