The staff kindly spoke in English and got my order perfectly. I enjoyed my latte macchiato and they have a 360 minute internet per calendar day for free usage. Casual background music, conversations, glass and cups clanging at the bar and at the customers' tables, and not to mention the smell of coffee! (It is 6 p.m.) it is under a very relaxing yet a great hang out with your friends. I ordered a cup of Café Latte and the barista told me to take a seat first. I think I got the perfect seat at the corner so I can feel the atmosphere of two sides: partially bar and partially Café. There are some old giant cassette stereos above the bar. Very interesting. I love this place. Tucked away in a little side street not too far from Kiel's city centre (if…read morethere is such a thing ...), you can get a really nice breakfast or a quick lunch - right next to a real goldsmith working on real hand-crafted jewellery. Because this place is both a café and a goldsmith's workshop. The place where the Werkstatt Café can be found used to be a butcher's shop - and you can still find "reminders in stone" all over the walls. The rest of the furniture is modern, yet comfy. The menu might be small, alas, the quality of the breakfast (and the coffee) is very good. Service is very friendly too. You can't go wrong with this place - just make sure you have a reservation on the busy Saturday mornings.
