When I first came in I was absolutely stunned by the nice and cozy flair. When I spotted the display of the deliciously looking cakes I immediately started taking pictures. The lady working at the Café seemed a bit confused, rather distanced at first (because of that reserved attitude and her lovely southern accent I was guessing she must be from Baden-Württemberg), almost worried that something was/is wrong. Quite the contrary, I was in love with this place from the first moment on! So I sat down on a very cute little table right next to the window and ordered one of the 2 soups of the day-I took the red lentils with coconut although the red beet soup with orange and ginger sounded just as good! It didn't take very long and the soup was ready to be eaten... well no... I had to take pictures first, of course! Not only the lovely presentation on a wooden board but also the fact that it was served with bread (super fresh and delicious) & butter decorated with parsley screamed for being photographed! And now the taste-very good, even a bit spicy which I love, simply delicious! Besides that I was very much enjoying the atmosphere-the white furniture, the beautiful pictures on the walls, the book shelves and magazines, fresh flowers on each table and not to forget ALL these treats behind the counter! Although the Café was well attended from when I got there, more and more people came and I noticed that a lot of them must be regular guests as the waitress (I'm assuming she's the owner of Milch&Honig, too) was talking to many in a very familiar way, she even knew their preferences offering either special cakes or varieties of lactose, gluten free, vegan. Very impressive! So as I sat there watching and observing, I couldn't get my eyes off the yummy looking cakes and each time I realized a new one that had just been brought out of the kitchen. What a tough decision but I finally decided on the cheesecake and OMG let me tell you-it was fantastic-so creamy, so tender, so fluffy, sooooooo good-I especially loved that it wasn't too sweet! It even had a bit of a lemon taste as well-hence I'm in love even more and know I'll be back here very very soon! Thank you so much for such amazing delights! BTW-the lady is from Baden ;-)

Everything nicely presented in white porcelain The bread is organic, and the croissants au beurre tasted really French. I know that : I am French ! When sick, or in the afternoon on a cold day, get a fantastic hot ginger tea (order the special "Coffee Cross" Ingwertee) that comes with a spruce of mint and a squeeze of orange juice in the bottom. At lunch, there's a hot homemade oven-baked meal: vegetarian and non-veg options, just 4,50 euros and always tasty, like eating my mom's home-cooked food. The atmosphere is ideal. It's quiet and warm inside, feels like someone's living room. Outside, there's a great sunny terrace. And finally, all the staff are polite and provide great service. The main manager who greeted me many days when I was writing or working is a lovely, caring, and friendly person. We always exchange pleasantries and she always asks about my daughter.

Always looking for great places to treat my ice-cream addiction I spotted this during my summer break in Berlin. Ever since we tried their ice cream up and down the menu for take a way or stayed and enjoyed ice and coffee in the sun. They offer all classy ice cream flavors as chocolate, hazelnut and strawberries, different fruit sorbet and many lactose-free flavors, beside this they do some special flavors as marzipan poppy seed, Ginger-Lime and Raspberry-chocolate chip which totally made me love this place because they add real chocolate pieces into the ice cream ;) The average price is 90cents a scoop which is totally reasonable for this delicious self-made ice cream, and good new they are open all year long!!!

A lovely bakery in Dahlem…read more * * * Food tip in Germany. (It works for France too.) Pretty much every bakery you see serves some kind of lunch and some kind of breakfast. Germany has many more cooked breakfasts and lunches than France does. In France your only option might be quiches and sandwiches. In Germany, there will be a small to medium size menu of options for both meals. Bakery breakfast and lunches are nearly always good. That makes them a good choice in dubious neighborhoods where you might not be otherwise thrilled about your options. * * * Dahlem is NOT a dubious neighborhood. It is one of the most properous quarters in Berlin. Everything is pleasantly upscale. Dahlem-dorf, where Baci's, is located, has upper-middle-class food establishments. These are not unlike what you might find in Ridgewood, New Jersey or Newton, Massachusetts. You could probably eat anywhere in the village and do well. * * * We ate at Baci's and did well. My lovely wife had a perfectly nice avocado bagel and good coffee. I had an impressive sweet potato soup. The sweet potato soup made me forget what I had on the side and what I had for dessert. But I remember the dessert being good and the sweet potato soup being a real treat. * * * Baci's calls itself an American bakery. The baked goods are not all that different from what is found in other bakeries in Berlin. Globalization has taken over German bakeries the way it has taken over German restaurants and German restaurants. Everyone does French croissants. Everyone does American chocolate chip cookies. Lots of people do M & M cookies. Heavy German rye breads can be found, But they represent a small part of the offerings. What is particularly American about Baci's is the coffee house style decoration. What is for lunch is written on a blackboard. The establishment looks a lot like the Moosewood Cafe in Ithaca, New York. Dahlem-Dorf is pretty. The big windows give you a nice view of Dahlem-Dorf. And the interior decoration is pretty.
