Friends of ours who have a summer house in a nearby village said this was their favorite local hangout. It is right in the main square of this picturesque little village of Goult, about a five minute walk down from the windmill. It doesn't serve dinner, apparently, but does serve Sunday brunch.
We went there about 24 hours after arriving in France and after a half hour wait despite a reservation, we were seated outside. My daughter opted for the salmon tartare which she didn't like but I loved. My wife ordered the vegetarian plate which had some of the juiciest pieces cantelope I ever tasted. I opted for the prix fixe menu and started with the Salade Italiene, which was incredibly good. It looked as good as it tasted. I also loved my main course, a lamb dish with mashed potatoes. However, I was hoping to get the lamb shank with the bone sticking up, as I saw being brought to other tables. Not sure if they ran out of that or if that didn't come with the prix fixe. A little disappointing but this lamb still tasted good. There were three choices for dessert and we opted for the strawberry custard or yoghurt with some crumbles on top, which was fine but not extraordinary. The other one was cooked peaches served with a scoop of peach ice cream.
Our waiter was very nice and spoke English, which was a huge help as my French is limited to a few words. We really felt like we were in France, sitting outside on the little town's square. I thought we'd have many more great meals like this in Provence but this turned out to be one of the two best meals we had during our week there. read more
