I have had at least one child in care of this school since 2018. Up until the last 1.5yrs, we have been satisfied with the care Cadence (Previously Creative Minds) provided. Unfortunately, due to the mass staff exodus the Pre-K program was cut with little notice and we were left with no child care for this entire summer. From Jan-May of this year we had numerous late night emails asking us to not bring our infant in for class, making it very difficult for my husband to work and for me to see scheduled patients. From my perspective, this is a salary issue. Employees at Cadence are potentially not being paid enough and are leaving for other jobs. Teacher Nancy, Chelsea, Zita and Liz, dozens of our kids miss you and will forever be grateful to you for sticking it out as long as you could. The food is another aspect that needs to be addressed immediately. I hope they are no longer serving bowls of corn (as seen in my child's photo on google review) or the ever popular "vegan meat balls" that the kids would frown at, weekly. I want to say Thank you to Teacher Mia and Vicki who made us stay as long as we did and who you should feel confident leaving your children with. HORRIBLE! I would not trust this daycare center for my child or anyone else's child. Go somewhere that truly cares about providing high quality personalized childcare to your child. I couldn't help but feel like the childcare staff did not know or did not care about what they were doing. Child hated it and we hated it. There were signs that the child was neglected in various ways. At pickup, child's nose was often crusty from crying and almost never wiped clean. Child's mouth was also not cleaned and frequently dirty from food; this caused a long-term rash\skin irritation\dermatitis around child's mouth. There were times the child's bottom was really red from harsh scrubbing; this indicates that a fecal diaper had dried and crusted after a long period of time of not being changed and they were scrubbing aggressively to get fecal matter off. Child did not seem to be happy in any picture provided. Child strongly indicated that they did not want to be there before and after every single day. After that daycare, child was constantly frightened of other kids being nearby. While attending, child had frequent night terrors and would not sleep well at night. Seems to be quantity over quality at this daycare. Choose anywhere else to care for your precious child! They will frequently state that the child 'ate all' of a meal or snack, but I have a difficult time believing that that is true. Our child does not 'eat all'. Also, I once received an update that the child 'ate all' of a snack, then walked in, and the snack was sitting untouched in front of the child. I took the snack home and took a picture of it. With every interaction, you get this awful sense that the bubbly Director will say anything to trick you into believing everything is wonderful or that she will take care of your issues. Director will say "Your child is doing well and/or child is bonding with so and so", but it is presumably to placate the parent. Repeatedly said they provide 2-6 pictures per day of your child - only one picture of child provided in the first week. ~5 pictures were provided over the next two weeks. The 2-6 pictures of child per day were not provided, even after complaining repeatedly. I am fairly certain other pictures were taken of child in the first week, but they were likely deleted and not shown to us. The app they use is complete trash - KidReports app has a 2.0 of 5.0 rating on Google Play. Did they use this horribly rated app because it was the cheapest option? Didn't have access to app for five days, even after complaining every day - it was not important for the parents to know anything about their child in the first week apparently. There was practically zero personalized communication about child well-being in the first week. We canceled after the first week, but they lock you into two additional weeks with their contract. They do not even ask why you are leaving. It does not seem to be important for them to improve what is wrong. Childcare staff rotate constantly - I saw someone different in the room frequently. The daycare staff rarely tried to make me and the child feel welcome; often, I would not know how to hand off my distraught child. They hired four new people at roughly the same time - probably a sign of staffing issues. One of the staff they hired is 20 years old; they do not seem professionally experienced. While the director was seemingly out, I overheard daycare admin staff telling the children caregivers what to do, and how to wake up the children from nap. This seriously confused me. Shouldn't the children caregivers know what to do? Are the caregivers that inexperienced/inept? Are your children truly in good hands behind closed doors? That same day, I picked up at 3:50 pm; as far as I could tell, the child did not have an afternoon snack by that time. Due to many reasons, I do not trust leaving my child or any other child in this place. Who knows what actually occurs here. I will never bring my child to another daycare center after this nightmare! read more

I have been at this center for 2 years now and found this school to be a rarity in this part of town. Great hours, curriculum, friendly staff and a clean, warm environment that also took infants! Having 3 children who were all enrolled when we first moved here ... they have been a game changer for the chaos that can be a working Mom. Not to mention the Director Tonya has made wonderful improvements since the previous not so awesome Director. The Teachers who watch my children are amazing from Infant Teacher Katy to Michelle, Jamie, Natasha and so many more sweet people; they care for and teach these kids with a lot of heart. AVOID! Cadence was an awful experience for our family and here are the reasons why: RED FLAGS - Noticeable changes in child behavior. After we started going into this daycare, there were noticeable changes in our daughter's behavior: She would freak out and cry when we placed her into the car seat, because she thought she was going to the daycare. She would tantrum and point away from the daycare when we exited the car after arrival. She would cry when she saw lots of other kids and would not let us put her down, because she thought we would abandon her with the other kids - seemingly, like they do during outside time. She became very anxious around other children and wanted to avoid them at all costs. Every day she cried more frequently and was more moody in general. She would also frequently cry during the nighttime, seemingly from her terrible experience there. POOR COMMUNICATION & INCORRECT INFORMATION - They seem to have lots of different policies, but either change them at a whim or they do not follow them. 1) When I first messaged them, they said they had a waitlist fee, but we never paid that and were offered a spot a month or two after the tour. 2) When I first requested information, the rate sheet they sent me was different from the rate sheet after they offered us the spot. When we were attending, on the second day, they told us to sign another sheet stating that the rates are increasing again at the end of the month. 3) They sent a parent handbook, and some of the information in there was incorrect. For example, the hours and meals were different from what they actually offered. (e.g., handbook said they served breakfast, but they do not). 4) After we accepted the spot, it would take a week each time for them to answer my simple questions about the daycare. I sent some questions on May 17 and these were not replied to until June 2, and only some of my questions were answered. 5) They did not send me the forms to fill out and sign until the Friday evening, just before the Monday they thought we were starting. We actually confirmed with them we are starting the following week, so they were confused about that. CHILDCARE DEFICIENCIES - Lacking hygiene care and insufficient attention Everyday our daughter came home with dry boogers under her nose, food stains around her mouth, stains on her shirt, and sometimes sticky hands. I felt they did not ever find it important wipe their faces after the children ate. Speaking of food, I do not believe they cut the food appropriately for toddlers. Once, they had a tortilla with nut butter and it was one thick rolled piece - not cut to bite size. Additionally, they eat on paper towels instead of plates or bowls. When we eventually saw pictures of her or when we looked in the room before pickup, she always seemed to be unhappy and sitting or standing away from the other children. I do not know how much attention she is getting from the teachers, but it seemed negligible. In pictures of her outside, she was playing with the woodchips on the ground instead of engaging with other kids or teachers. There seems to be a lot of teacher turnover or floaters in the classroom; it was very difficult for our shy child to bond with a specific teacher since they kept on changing. We frequently saw different people in the room or watching the children. BAD APP - Access issues, severe lack of pictures/information, and questionable messages. They had an app that was rated badly in the app store. We did not have access to it for a week and when we did, we only saw one picture for the entire first week. As first time daycare users, with a very socially shy child, it was extremely worrisome for us to not know and see how she was doing. Speaking of the app, we could not trust it or the daycare, because one time, they marked that she ate her snack and when we went in, the snack was in front of her untouched. Who knows if she even ate her other food or not? We did not ever know if the information was correct and could not trust Cadence to tell us truthfully. read more

Fantastic school. Beautiful building and classrooms with windows and and a play yard overlooking a wildlife area. Tonya the School Director is truly a gem! We love the pre-k program. My son learns about science, reading, writing and problem solving. I especially love that the curriculum includes kindness, diversity and inclusion. read more

We love Cadence! We started our two boys here mid-pandemic - a tricky/scary time to send your kids to daycare - but the staff was so helpful and communicative, and made the transition a breeze. We're so grateful to have found a place here, where our boys are now thriving. We are so very thankful for Cadence Academy in Tualatin! From the moment I did the walk through I knew it was going to be a great fit. The staff is friendly, loving, smart, and truly cares about the children and their families. The systems they have in place for everything run smoothly, and I truly don't know what I would have done without their help with our 3 year old. The facility is so clean and well maintained inside and out. The play areas and class rooms are nice and big too and plenty for the kids to do and learn. Whenever we pick up our daughter she is happy and bursting with joy and really loves school. I will for sure be recommending them to anyone who needs childcare in the future. I could write so much about the ways we love Cadence, but to be right to the point -- we see our daughter thriving under the thoughtful care and instruction of her teachers. Wonderful staff! We feel very happy and secure with the care our girls have gotten here. I like how kids have heir own classroom based on ages and my kids are happy at the end of the day. Hours are ideal for working parents 7 am to 6 pm with real curriculum 9 am-4 pm. They provide 2 snacks and a lunch. The food is healthy, vegetarian. In regards to the noisy kids outside-part and parcel of young kids, once they are outside they use their 'outside voices'. read more

We are new members of CMLC. We have a 4.5 and 2.5 yr old. I was happy they could both be at the same location, with programs tailored to each of their learning needs. Our children previously had only experienced a full time caregiver. They had never gone full time at a school before. The transition was a little challenging, but Tonya and the teachers couldn't have been more supportive. They have been so encouraging that my kids were doing great (even if the dropoff is always difficult). I love that they have an app where their teachers provide several updates during the day with photos, alerts and messages. It is a great way to see that my kids are happy, and thriving in their new environment. Happy to have found CMLC, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to new families. read more

We were two weeks before we started our child here and we asked about if our son needed to be fully potty trained as he does need a little help at times. We were told that they require kids to be completely self sufficient as it is not fair to all of the other kids that are. We had put our deposit down back in December and that would of been nice to know then but I couldn't get the school on the phone to discuss my son and his needs. I highly recommend collecting all of your information prior to placing your deposit. read more
