Although much of the staff did not speak English, there was usually someone available to help translate. I really enjoyed the rooftop area. They have a small pool and sitting area. The gym is also on the roof. It is small, with only 2 treadmills, and a few pieces of equipment. But it was never full and did the job. The restaurant is decent, although I would recommend walking over to the shopping plaza next door for more options at a more reasonable price. The highlight of my stay was really the huge breakfast spread. I definitely feasted every morning. The buffet is about 185 pesos and includes an omelette bar, hot foods, lots of fresh fruit, cakes, salads, jello, make your own waffles with toppings, pan dulces, juices and agua frescas, oatmeal, and cereal. They have hardwood-laminate floors with a small desk and an orange side chair. The beds are a little stiff, but not terrible. The hotel itself is in a bit of an odd location in Centro Sur. There is nothing around besides a bus parking lot and one small restaurant. It has easy access to the highway to get to other parts of Queretaro, and parking is pretty easy. Some of the staff is friendly like the ones at the front desk or some of the waiters. Others, get grumpy if you don't speak good Spanish! They serve breakfast every morning with a variety of all kinds of stuff. Five types of fruit, scrambled eggs (with hot sauce of course), bread, broccoli with cheese, a waffle station, bacon, sausage, fried bananas, and a tortilla & omelette station. It definitely trumps a lot of breakfast buffets in the US! They charge you about $10 for breakfast though.

My mother and I went on the tour knowing we had to be exactly back at the bus terminal at 7:30 pm. We let the tour guides (Gabriel Alcaraz who narrated the tour & Jose Luis who was our driver) know ahead of time of our time crunch and they were more than accommodating! The tour was kept at an easy pace but always mindful of the time. We of course made it to the terminal on time to catch our bus back to Guadalajara! This is one of the largest silver mines in history. You can't really go inside the mines…read morethemselves, but they have tours through the buildings at the surface and a historical exhibit with old pictures of the mine. It's very interesting. The mine was originally started in the 1700s when silver was found on the surface. It was originally a few hundred feet and then expanded to about 1500 feet in depth around 1806. They say a third of the silver that Spain got from the New World came from this one mine. if you go into the mine office there is a map on the wall showing the maze of underground passages.Today the mine is owned by a Canadian company, and it is still in operation, but he said they use a different entrance.

He included a lot of interesting facts. The driver can handle business. He squeezed that bus in places that I thought were impossible - either due to the small size of the streets or the amount of traffic (both car and pedestrian). The took us up to a viewpoint (a place we wouldn't have walked to), around the center of town and made a stop in a square. Very cute and quick way to learn history and see all the important spots in town. Took about 1 1/2 hours.
