I told her she could really do anything to my nails, but she still consulted with me about basic things such as color, vibe and shape. I ended up LOVING my nails, a basic nice neutral color with a classy pop of fall fun. She is creative, warm, friendly, and very knowledgeable about all things Alchemy. Not just services, but products, color lines, and ingredients! I saw Christine for my massage-- and she's out of this world. She works your muscles very hard if you ask nicely, and will get any kink or incorrect knot out of your back or shoulders in no time. The best service by far though, was my facial from Erin. Her derma-plane skills are the best I've ever seen. My skin came out SUPER soft, zero hairs left. She has great attention to detail and caters every step in the service to you, and your skin. Her custom selected masks are really great, and the cooling mask was my favorite part. She also gives really good hand massages, which are included in the facial! She's skilled, sweet, helpful, and very informative about post-facial steps to take. Overall I give Alchemy 5/5 again and again!

She said I'd make a great redhead, but that wasn't my goal; she talked me into highlights (some of which begin 1 - 1.5" down the hair shaft) and a glaze. She started applying highlights, but had the receptionist finish them. Marta came over and said she was having someone else cut my hair so she didn't have to rush me color (?). Long story short, I felt rushed and like an annoyance. The glaze is already washing out (had this done 4 days ago), I can't put my hair up now, and the color is not even close to what I really wanted. I'm embarrassingly conflict-avoidant, but I spent over 200 dollars for messy color and a cut that I hate. I wish I had known that I would be passed off between staff and stylists and my hair goals dismissed. I expected more from a premier salon. I haven't let anyone at the salon know I'm unhappy because I don't want anyone there touching my hair again. I can't stop thinking about the money I threw away. I saved for 2 months to be able to get my hair done. Beware.

It was devastating. But from the moment I walked into Manifest, I felt at ease, comfortable, and my stylist Hannah listened to my LONG stories about the history of my hair without making me feel like I was being annoying. She took in everything I said, asked me questions and if I had any concerns, and it was so nice to feel heard by someone. This is the type of stylist who truly cares about how her guests feel, she doesn't just look at them and see how much she's going to get paid, she is genuine. (And that's why you need to tip her well if you ever do go sit in her chair!) This salon only has four stylists but I think that Tyler (the owner) was very conscious in choosing who worked in his salon. The staff is the epitome of the saying "QUALITY over QUANTITY". They not only transform your hair but also make you feel genuinely welcomed and valued. I know that I felt like I got more individualized care tailored to my preferences and needs compared to any other salon I've ever set foot in. As for the salon itself.... The atmosphere is absolutely luxurious but not over the top. The décor, the hand picked furniture and accents clearly tells me that a lot of time and effort was put into this place. It creates an ambiance of relaxation and comfort. And while it IS luxurious, it doesn't have that "stick your nose up at regular people" vibe -- you can be plain Jane as can be, and they still welcome you and treat you like a friend. It's absolutely wonderful, they have candles burning, they offer you complimentary lattes/coffee, their shampoo bowls have cushions on the neck part and are SOOO comfortable! They also have more advanced appliances compared to other salons. (For example...Sitting under the dryer isn't an old school machine that blows hot air out of a helmet that's placed over your head. Manifest has driers that have heat panels on each side of your head, that are very spacious, and no hot air is being harshly blown on your hair) The stylists here remind me of a little family and they treat their clients the same way. The genuine hospitality that they have clearly made a point to offer to their guests is SO much different than the "big name" or franchise salons. Long story short, I couldn't praise this place more & I'll be going back. And if I didn't already mention Hannah McVey was my stylist :)

The shop is small and comfortable, and the atmosphere is relaxed and unpretentious. I showed up early for my appointment and there were a few guys ahead of me, which ordinarily for me is a little uncomfortable and I do what most people do in a situation like that... mess with my phone. But in this case it was easy to just sort of hang out and have a chat while I waited. An atmosphere like that is rare and definitely appreciated. As for the cut itself, I have to say that I found Rich to be something that I thought was long gone... someone who is into what they do and is simply really good at it. The highlights he put in were subtle but really "popped" and for the next month (or more) hardly a day went by that I did not get a compliment on my hair. Neil really listens to what you want for your hair and also tactfully offers creative suggestions and tips. He is also a wonderful conversationalist and when he offers you a cup of tea, it feels like you're having a good visit with a friend, although he is very professional as well. His prices are appropriate for the great service. When you find a stylist like Neil, it feels like you've struck gold or won the lottery. I'm glad he's chosen Terre Haute as his home base.
