Good photo ops too! I am new to diving so I loved the discovery experience. Edwardo was professional and made sure I was safe and felt safe. From the very beginning, I was looking for a place that prioritized small class sizes and a more personalized experience--especially after a less-than-ideal OW certification elsewhere. This team delivered on every front. I started communicating with Becky months in advance, and she was incredibly helpful; promptly answering all my questions, coordinating dives for my husband while I did my course, and even sending calendar reminders. That level of professionalism set the tone before we even arrived. I was lucky to have Kostas as my instructor and even luckier to be the only student in my class. He was calm, patient, and extremely knowledgeable. Even though he's newer to Cabo, he already has a deep understanding of local marine life. He knew exactly where to look for megafauna and pointed out several rare species during our dives, which made the experience even more special. We dove Pelican Rock, Land's End, and made the unforgettable trip to Cabo Pulmo, where Polo led our excursion. He made sure everything ran smoothly from park briefings to safety checks. During our surface interval, we got to meet some of his fisherman friends who were camping during triggerfish season, and after our dives, we enjoyed a delicious local lunch and even met one of the OG Cabo Pulmo dive shop owners. Everyone we interacted with including Chuy, Baptiste, the boat captains, and the rest of the team, were warm, professional, and clearly passionate about diving and marine life conservation. If you're considering diving in Cabo, whether it's for fun dives or training, don't hesitate to book with this shop. I left with two new certifications, some amazing memories, and a newfound confidence and excitement for diving. 10/10 recommend!

Finding a good guide / surf instructor is not easy. Mainly if I am looking for a lesson for my son…read moreor if I am going to a new place. But Bernardo was highly recommended to me by someone who surfs in another part of the country. I spent 2 days with him and had an absolute blast! He is soft spoken, polite, knowledgable, kept safety a top priority and his prices were very reasonable. Obviously he is a great surfer! I have been surfing for more than 40 years, and have surfed in California, other parts of Mexico, Hawaii, Brazil, Costa Rica and Portugal. So I can basically grab my board and paddle out. The problem is that the Cabo area is very tricky and can become dangerous very fast. The reefs in Costa Azul and East Cape are not your typical benign reef. It has large rocks in the middle of the line up or in the path of the waves just below the surface. So you catch a wave and make a turn in the wrong direction and you can either get hurt or damage your board badly (or both). I arrived in Cabo and drove to an area called Shipwrecks (East Cape) in the afternoon. When I got there and looked from the road above I could see the reef was very rocky and I couldn't pick a clear path to paddle out. As there wasn't a single surfer in the water, I didn't feel safe. So I realized quickly I needed a guide. I texted Bernardo and he was very responsive and accomodating. I went back the next day and he took me to a spot that was just perfect. Away from the crowds ( actually there were only the two of us) and with great waves. He knew precisely where the big rocks were and pointed out which direction I could or could not go. He also coached me on a few things helping me adapt to the waves faster. I would say that the session was worth every penny! So I booked another one for the next day. He kept an eye on the forecast and then picked a location with the best conditions. I surfed amazing waves! And if you are a beginner or intermediate surfer, I have no doubt you and your kids / family will be in great hands. Muchas gracias Bernardo! I can't wait to go back and also have you coach my son.

This place is no longer next to Costa Azul, but is now in La Fortuna up the East Cape. It is also…read morecalled Ceviche now and is just up the road from Zai Sushi. You can still look at their Awayco website for rentals, but almost none of the boards on the website are actually available. You have to just go and see what's there. The board selection is primarily large foamies or high volume fishes. Not a lot of shortboards to speak of - except for maybe a couple but almost all are around 29-31L of volume. Friend dinged 1 board and the guy charged my friend something like $150 USD or approx $2600 pesos for the repair. They also tried to charge us more for another board by claiming we kept it longer than we did - which could be an honest mistake as the place doesn't seem to be great at keeping records. On the upside, it is much cheaper to rent here than Costa Azul or anywhere else and pretty convenient if you plan on surfing around the East Cape.

I am a first-time efoiler but an experienced wakesurfer and was excited to learn. The price and…read moreshort duration of 1 hour were attractive to me and much better than the US. I asked if they had helmets when I booked and they said yes, but I assumed they had full-length wetsuits. Wrong assumption. They do not. I recommend you wear a full wetsuit if you have one or can find one or a long-sleeve rasher and anything to cover your knees. They do give you a good life jacket. Remember to sunscreen your back shoulders if you do not have a rasher or sun shirt. I now have a visible vest tan. You will be learning in the comically crowded port of Cabo San Lucas. When I went in, there might have been 30 moving vessels in the water and 50 parked vessels. It was the busiest water I have ever seen, and I boat 10 times a year. Next thing is watch out for wind and choppy water. It makes learning much harder. Try to time with the least wind possible. Next is try to avoid the arrival of the cruise ships as they put dozens of boats in the water ferrying 3000 people off the ship. I am right-handed and I surf goofy, but next time I go I will switch the strap and use my left hand for the remote so I can use my strong hand to hold the board and get up on my right leg. You should watch videos on how to efoil, which I did, but none of them went into detail about how much you have to pay attention to the remote trigger and how smoothly you have to accelerate and hold power. The amount of training they give on-shore is only 7 minutes. The instructor goes out with you on another board and his advice and direction are critical, particularly managing the trigger. He said focus on the trigger as he could tell that's where I was failing. The trigger will not work at all if the nose of the board is not 10 inches above the water. So you start on your stomach, build steady speed, go to knees, go to front leg, and then stand on both. Then you will fall in because you will add too much power or back off the trigger and cause it to cut power. Then you will repeat this over and over and in the process, your forearms, stomach, and knees will be rashed raw and start to burn in the seawater. I was close to bleeding. Very unpleasant. So unpleasant that after 30 minutes, I did not want to attempt anymore and was ready to go back to shore and try again another day with a wetsuit and in freshwater. An experienced ocean surfer came back with one raw and one cut knee, so it was not only my lack of surfing experience. 1 hour will be the max most people can do. Advice to you and the business, ask them to bring the board 150M down the beach where there are fewer vessels and people, so you can save the time and energy navigating out of the traffic. The people are very nice and helpful and the price is a good value for this new sport.
