Disrespectful and Discriminatory Experience…read more We paid over $200 per night expecting a decent winter break stay. Instead, we experienced chaos, hostility, and treatment that felt discriminatory. There was no staff at check-in -- after 10+ calls, we were told the key was left outside. The "continental breakfast" was stale cereal and hard-boiled eggs. The room had bugs, and the flooring was poorly installed and taped together with electrical tape. On the second day of our stay, the owner entered one of our rooms unannounced using her own key and attempted to change the lock to lock out one of our family members, claiming the room wasn't paid for. We had booked and paid in full for four rooms over six months earlier. Only after showing her the receipt did she realize it was her mistake. No apology was offered. I am a disabled veteran with medical dietary restrictions and travel with a rice cooker. When a fire alarm went off due to the microwave provided in the room, the owners barged in and demanded money. Later, they returned accusing us of clogging a public bathroom toilet with rice -- an accusation that felt based solely on the fact that we are Asian. The photo they showed was actually pasta. Again, no apology. As a veteran who served this country, I never expected to be stereotyped, falsely accused, and repeatedly entered without notice during a family vacation. We left feeling humiliated, targeted, and completely disrespected.

My boyfriend and I knew we wanted to go skiing at Gore but were not sure where to stay and boy and I glad that we chose Gore Mountain Lodge. We pulled up and went to the office to check in, and unfortunately there was a miscommunication and our room was never actually booked- but no fear! They accommodated us anyway, just told us it would be a little bit before the room was clean and ready, and that was fine by us. We walked right over to Beck's for a quick bite and drink and that was AMAZING!- but go over there for that review. The rooms are clean, there's nice little notes written for you with tips and info, there's plenty of brochures for local dining and travel sites, a trail map for gore mountain, a tv, WiFi, comfortable beds, towels, PLENTY of shampoo, conditioner, body wash, (super nice touch) and complimentary Swedish fish and sparkling water! There's even a Keurig, K-Cups, and mugs for your use to get you up and at 'em so you can be the first one at the mountain in the morning. Speaking of- it's not even a mile away from the gore mountain entrance- another huge plus. We knew within seconds that we wanted to write a good review for this place- and we don't write reviews often. There's communal yurts to hang out in- which we unfortunately never checked out but loved that we had the option. And they even have equipment and tools for ski racing! You can tell that they take care of the place and also take skiing seriously! It felt like staying at a relative's house but without any of the annoying check ins. With all of that said, I would highly recommend if you're considering a place near Gore Mountain. Kudos to the owners! We'll be back.

We were skiing Gore for two days, and if you look around online, this is probably the best and closest hotel to Gore that you'll find. Other places in the nearby area are much smaller B&Bs or motel-caliber places, or you can venture towards Lake George for more selection. Anyway, we had a great stay here - the new owner is very nice and hands-on, pretty much around from breakfast all the way until we turned in at night, lapping around the property, checking in with guests, and generously addressing any small glitches as they came up. The facilities are nice - some areas could use a little freshening up, but everything was clean and we felt good about staying here. They have a nice sitting area with fireplace, great if you want to hang out with some drinks without sitting in your room. The breakfast that's included is basic but sufficient enough (oatmeal, Nutri-grain bars, fruit, bread, spreads, coffee, juice, etc.), but they do offer hot entrees like omelets and other cooked to order items for additional cost. While we were here, we had a few rounds and dinner at Trapper's Tavern (which is the on-site restaurant). Trapper's has a nice rustic vibe, and if it wasn't for the pandemic, I'm sure they would have been way more crowded. You can't beat the commute either! Overall, four stars as is it. They could use just a bit more freshening up here and there, and my skier/winter bias wishes there was an outdoor hot tub (or I guess even an indoor one!). I trust things will be even better next time we're around - and we definitely will! Thank you!

We had plans to ski nearby Gore Mountain but the wind and a -40 degree windchill kept us from the slopes. This turn of events left us with more time than we expected at the lodge. Lucky for us, there were plenty of available on-site activities to keep us cozy and entertained. Highlights included: - Indoor heated pool & jacuzzi: What a luxury in the dead of winter! Spacious indoor area with large windows to house their pool, kiddie pool, and jacuzzi. Lounge chairs, tables, etc. Ample supply of pool towels, easy access to bathrooms, and separate changing areas so you don't have to walk through the lodge in your suit. - On-site activities: Board games available with ample seating near a fireplace. Large bar area. Group activities like bingo. The list goes on. - Comfortable rooms with useful amenities: Large televisions (great as the Olympics were on!), soft beds, mini fridge, Keurig, and the like. - Proximity to Downtown Schroon Lake: Although there was dining available on-site, it was nice to have a number of restaurants to select from 5 minutes down the road (and a stellar view of the frozen lake anytime you're pulling out of their property). - Hot drinks & snacks: I enjoyed some free cookies and hot beverages available in their lobby and main bar area on several occasions. Speaking of their property, the drive in among their towering trees is impressive. Lots of variety in the type of accommodation you can book. Ample parking. Great with snow removal and ensuring guests can get in and out. Staff were very helpful. Only snafu we encountered was right at check in. The heater in our first room sounded like a jet engine taking off with an incurable rattle. It was late but the front desk was very responsive and moved us to another room. Unfortunately, the room was quite a trek and was only accessible via stairs (which was a bummer as we had quite a few things we needed to drag in). To our delight, on trip 2 to our vehicle, the front desk stopped us and offered a 3rd but much closer room that became available after a last minute cancellation (which we gladly accepted). They didn't have to do that but we really appreciated them keeping us in mind. We were also granted a slight extension on checkout given our change in plans. Would definitely stay here again!

Just city and first name would be interesting but personal privacy wasn't a priority. The rooms are great though. The bedset and curtains matched and there was a fridge (freezer didn't do anything since it was missing the door) and the AC was blasting for me when i got in. The blinds and curtains doubled up really block out the light. There was a bit of dirt around the room, but it's dusty and woody outside and probably blows in easily. I would definitely stay here again though.

So I checked my email and had nothing from them. Thankfully someone walked in the office and asked if I needed help. They said it was a text, not an email. I didn't receive a text either. He looked up my info and the text was sent to my home phone number. So he told me my door code. I couldn't remember that code all weekend, so I had to look it up on my phone every time, I'd rather have a key. Also, he didn't tell me how to enter it, but I figured it out. My husband had more trouble when he tried lol. Every time. That keypad is very very touchy. And the kids next door, fighting over who gets to enter the code, yelled it several times. So now the whole parking lot knows their code. I guess Shaheen's is doing a lot of remodeling. I think we had a new room? But I'm not sure if it's finished. The ceilings are painted black, trying to look elegant I suppose, but looks kinda creepy. Many white paint drips / smears everywhere, unfinished carpentry, chips on the freshly painted door. New beautiful bathroom has a large sink but it's completely flat and stuff doesn't rinse down without a ton of effort. Toilet roll is a far stretch to reach. Toilet seat is sharp, really high, and uncomfortable. I know I'm sounding picky here but it was a lot. There is zero soundproofing. Thank goodness we needed the air conditioner, it helped drown out noises from neighbors and construction. For some reason, there was a man sitting in a truck, right below our back window, smoking and playing music loudly. Two nights in a row. Not sure if he was a guest or a worker or what. Public water in the area must be brownish yellow because the new toilet always looked dirty. I noticed the same water in the lobby Keurig machine. I believe the ice machine has a filter because the ice looked clear. As we were leaving, we noticed a little old lady with oxygen was having trouble getting in her door. We watched for a few minutes then asked if she needed help. She told us her door code and we showed her how to do it, but now we have her code. So dangerous if we were the type to take advantage, thankfully we're not. The only plus - my motherinlaw called the hotel to ask if they had any amenities she could purchase for our wedding anniversary. The man said no, but he'd be happy to go get whatever she wanted. She suggested champagne and chocolate covered strawberries. He said he had to go to the store anyways, and he'd make it happen. She called the night before to make sure everything worked out, and he said he forgot! Jeez! He ended up getting a bottle of wine, a box of chocolates from Adirondack Chocolates, and even a card. A very nice touch! But we definitely won't be back.

Needless to say, excellent customer service! If I return to the conference next year, I will likely book my stay at Shaheen's.

It's easy to miss but that's the whole point! You're off the grid and ready for some down time. Don't plan on using the internet much while you are here. We had a hard time getting and maintaining internet service. This was great in getting us to disconnect but a bit of a nightmare when we needed to use Waze or Mapquest for directions. We arrived 40 minutes early and the inn keeper initially seemed annoyed, frazzled and somewhat terse but quickly recovered once she realized our room was ready. After a tour of the grounds and the lodge we freshened up and headed downstairs to the main area for hors d'oeuvres and cocktail hour. I envisioned this to be much more than it actually was. I can't say that it was disappointing because I never expected it to be a highlight of my stay. I was however, very surprised at what was provided given the cost of our stay. The inn keeper offered us beer and wine and gave us a plate of four deviled eggs served on a plate with paper doilies. That was the extent of the hors d'oeuvres. Nothing else was prepared and nothing else was offered. On our second evening we had a small plate of cheese and crackers. They should bill this more as a light snack vs hors d'oeuvres. But again, not a big deal. This happy hour happens each day around four. On our first night we sat in the screened in porch and enjoyed the view of the lake before heading out to dinner. The second night we sat by the fire. There were a few other couples but everyone kept to themselves and enjoyed whatever space they were in and our time still felt private. There are rooms on each level of the lodge all offering a beautiful view though not all overlook the water. The inn is beautiful and if you're focusing on the ambiance of the lodge and the natural beauty surrounding it you'll realize the deviled eggs mean nothing. Our room was spacious and included a fireplace a fire pit and a jacuzzi tub. There are multiple fire pits around the lodge and s'mores kits to enjoy. If you choose not to gaze at the lake from afar you can enjoy any of the water toys down at the dock. There are also several walking trails to burn off the s'more you ate the night before. The inn keeper was a great concierge providing us with directions as well as suggestions for food and activities. Despite having a full house we really didn't bump into the other guests much during our stay. Downstairs is a pool table, a bar, fire place, puzzles, pool table, chess board etc. the bar is an honor system where you sip and sign for whatever you consumed and it will be added to your bill. During our stay there was a family of four staying at the lodge. Their children were around 12 and 15 and played darts while we played pool. There was plenty of space for us not to get into each other's way. There are books that other guests have left if you'd like to sit back with a good read. Breakfast was multi course small plates that were beautifully presented, tasty and just the right amount of food. You can have it brought to your room or request to dine in one of many areas of the lodge. We chose a table on the second floor with a great view of the lake. It was our own little spot with no distractions. The per night cost is $$$ but well worth it to relax, reconnect or just get outside and enjoy nature.
