I didn't think it was worth the effort. No parking. Very Small. Hard to find. Basically just a little hole in the wall set on a private Christian retreat center. Kind of got the impression they don't really want anyone who's not a guest of the retreat center as customers. Also they have very arbitrary hours and days of operation.

Came for the views, stayed for the caffeine. A perfect hole-in-the-wall-style coffee shop that requires some work to get to. I was the first customer at 2pm on Labor Day and had a lovely chat with the barista as well as some tasty chai. I also took a sip of my partner's iced coffee and equally as tasty. My new favorite spot I hope to come back for years to come. Details of location: Within the Zephyr Point Conference Center property. Limited parking on-site; I was told to park at the top of the hill and walk over. You will need to climb ~30 stairs to access building. It's recommended to access the area via Hwy 50 from South to make a right-hand turn (much safer!). Outdoor patio heated - good opportunity for a beer/wine/mocktail hangout in future. Accepts credit card.

Usually only 1 worker. Small but cute menu. Not a lot of seating inside the shop but there was good views outside the cabin.

    Now THAT'S a cinnamon roll!

As of the writing of this review, Google thinks Cabin 28 is closed. The rumors of its closure are greatly exaggerated and we should all count our blessings. This is a diamond in the rough, a jewel in the Nile, a needle in a haystack, pick your metaphor. Cabin 28 Coffee is a wee bit off the trail, but so very worth it. Cabin 28 is located on the grounds of Zephyr Point Conference Center, but don't let the location deter you. There is parking and seating a-plenty, so, unless you hate good coffee, warm cinnamon rolls, fresh mountain air, and a delightful partial view of the lake, you should definitely stop by. When you get there take a moment to notice the building itself. It is a converted cabin and with some very cool markings from the previous owners. Past generations signed parts of the walls, there are some sweet pictures and some other things that will help you get a feel for the history of Zephry Point. I grew up coming here as a child and it was NOT this fancy :-) but it is all so much more suited for folks to come by for a morning or a weekend and simply inhale the setting. Cabin 28 makes it that much more special.

    Cutest little shop!

Where do you park? If you're staying in a cabin near by, but for the rest of us we can't get there.

Loved this small place! A little off the beaten path but was so good and friendly. Tried the s'mores latte!

Fun & Unique Dessert Spot -- Great for Kids!…read more We often make a stop at The Baked Bear when we're in South Lake Tahoe for a sweet, memorable treat! This place has a very fun and unique concept -- you get to build your own custom ice cream sandwich by choosing your favorite cookies or brownies and pairing them with premium ice cream in the middle. You can even add toppings or have it pressed warm for an extra gooey indulgence. Personally, it's much sweeter than I normally go for -- definitely a sugar overload -- but that's exactly what makes it a perfect treat for kids. They absolutely loved it! It's big, rich, and very instagram‑worthy! For what you get, about $9.50 is pretty fair in South Lake Tahoe -- especially considering how fresh the cookies and ice cream are and how customizable the dessert is. It's the kind of place where you choose your own adventure with cookie flavors, ice cream flavors, and toppings, and the friendly staff is great at helping you decide what goes best together. We enjoy the vibe here -- it's relaxed, the staff is kind and helpful, and it makes for a fun family stop after dinner or while exploring downtown. Definitely a great spot if you're in the mood for a creative and delicious dessert experience! Especially if you are good at sharing :)

I ordered a Chocolate Devotion, and while waiting in line, I watched the employee tell the customer in front of me that they were "out of chocolate ice cream" and could only make it with the almond milk chocolate version instead. The customer initially declined. Then, right in front of me, the employee went to the back, brought out fresh chocolate ice cream, and made his order anyway. So when it was finally my turn and I ordered the exact same thing, I was told again that they "didn't have any chocolate ice cream." I pointed out that she had literally just made the same order for the person before me using regular chocolate ice cream, and even pointed to the container sitting right there. At that point, the employee changed the explanation and said she "wasn't going to be able to scoop it out" -- even though I had just watched her do exactly that moments earlier. The whole interaction felt incredibly unfair and inconsistent. If you can serve it, then serve it to everyone. You don't pick and choose which customers get accommodated and which ones don't. The service was so uncomfortable and disappointing that both myself and the person I was with ended up walking out without ordering anything. Really disappointing experience.
