We usually come for the Juneberry pie and hospitality, but today we rented a pontoon for the day!…read moreWe opted for a smaller and less expensive pontoon. From 8-4:30 you get the boat and a full tank of gas for $650. It was a great day to be on the lake and the kids had so much fun. Of course, we got our Juneberry pie after the boat ride.

This place is NOT for your high end RV Resort crowd! BUT it…read morewas a good place to stop during a high wind storm. I'm talking our entire coach was lifting up in the huge wind surges. I called and a delightfully voice said come on over and she gave us great directions. Side bar it is well off the highway on a dirt road. And there aren't any signs to direct you. When we arrived Ashley took us to a spot. Then she said if this is too windy I have places that have wind blocks. We were exhausted from fighting the wind and we were thrilled to just be able to stop for the night. In the morning we realized this is very much an oilman's camp. It's is all gravel. Not a blade of grass here. Not great for my pooches. But again we were so happy to have a place to gather ourselves we didn't care. We even stayed an extra day to go shopping at the Walmart down the road and do our laundry (which is another issue) and get ready to press on. On the surface the laundry room looked ok but I quickly realized more machines were broken than worked. Ashley quickly gave me refunds for the machines that ate my quarters then didn't seem to have power. Anyway we came, we rested, we move on. And Ashley was awesome!

This review is for the restaurant in the campgrounds -- I did not actually camp here. What's nice…read moreabout the campgrounds is they have a refueling station for boats if you pull up to the dock and ask for the gas attendant. She will help you refuel your boat. The restaurant itself is nice and clean. It has a lot of tables and the night we were dining they had one really large party of about 12 women, so they can accomodate large groups. They have a TV playing loudly in the corner, which is sort of distracting but not terrible. Next to the restaurant they have a small shop selling food, candy, and camping essentials. For my entree I ordered the chicken fried steak which also came with a salad and mashed potatoes. I had never seen chicken fried steak made that way before, but maybe this is how they make it up north? I am from Texas, and there the steak is breaded just like you would bread fried chicken with a sort of white crunchy outer layer. Here, the dough was brown and smooth. I prefer the southern way of making chicken fried steak. The gravy helped to add some flavor though. If I came again I'd order the porkchops, bc those looked tastier.

When walking around, we encountered inappropriate behavior by other guests, that included extreme sagging. We had to switch rooms. Next, we only got two towels upon arrival. When we asked for some towels at the front desk, the lady rudely informed us that there were no towels at all, not even a hand towel. We then asked for toilet paper and she muttered under her breath "I hate people." Definitely not family friendly. We also learned "the gym has a leak" so we were unable to use it. If you like cold eggs and stale cereal in a gum ball machine, this is the place for you. Be prepared to bring your own toiletries. Be sure to pack a towel if you want to stay clean.
