Review is not based on a one-time visit. It's based on weekly attendance for years. The perspective below is a balanced view. No church is perfect, nor is any church terrible (unless it's teaching nothing from the Bible). Here are my 2 cents.
Pros:
- You are usually welcomed by a friendly greeter with a small pamphlet informing you of upcoming events.
- Some people step outside of their comfort zone to truly say "hi" to newcomers.
-You get an opportunity to briefly speak with the pastors while walking out the door.
- Feeding the hungry happens once a month during the winter months.
- There are some caring people if you're willing to look for them.
- They stream their services online.
Cons:
- You no longer are provided with space to take notes in the pamphlet.
- Most newcomers seemingly leave after a visit or two. Probably because there are a lot of cliques. Simply an observation on my part.
- Some people complain the music is too loud. These folks may be more interested in being comfortably entertained than worshiping God. Again, my perspective.
- The brief interaction at the end of the sermon with the pastors can leave one feeling impersonal and unwelcome.
- Leaving on time is emphasized over worshiping and fellowshiping. "Ship them in, ship them out" could be a slogan.
- Bible studies are not offered here. Why, you may ask? Great question. No small groups are offered now that I think of it.
- The Pastor seems to say "I" more than "Jesus". I could go on about this, but you take a visit and see if this place is for you.
- There is questionable doctrinal teaching at the end of the sermon.
It's not all roses here, and I'm sure it's not totally terrible. But after years of attendance, if it weren't for other sermons from others churches and pastors I'd be studying alone all week without more teaching and perspective. No groups, just be on time to service, sit, listen, leave. Of course it's up to the individual to be responsible to take notes and study. Very cold and awkward place. Once again, those are my 2 cents. You may be very blessed here if you give it a try. read more
