Before our engagement session there was a HUGE thunderstorm - the worst in a while - and we were afraid we'd have to skip the session or possibly fly back to California without doing the session. Cory actually used the rain as an opportunity to get beautiful shots in the rain, both for evening and night shots! They turned out beautifully despite all potential hiccups. I was really impressed with him as a professional and with the quality of all of our photos and videos. One of his photos of us is in the New York Times in the Vows section, and we continue to get compliments on it. His entire team was like my right arm on my wedding day. They were hands-on, setting up shots in detail and positioning us the right way to get great looks while keeping it fun - and meaningful. Calling Lauren a wedding planner is an incomplete characterization. Lauren is a visionary, stylist, and strategist who is able to both design events and execute the logistics and tactics flawlessly. My husband and I (and our families) worked with Lauren for about 15 months to plan our recent Richmond, VA wedding for 170 guests at an outdoor venue. The entire process was not only painless but fun. As a super type A person, I was not sure I'd find a planning partner who would meet my micromanaging expectations. But Lauren was incredibly organized from Day 1 (I appreciate a good folder structure and Google Doc). She also made planning FUN! I was never overwhelmed, never felt uncertain on where things stood, and always was sure that Lauren and I were on the page with everything - aesthetics, budget, etc. Fast forward to wedding day, and dozens of wedding guests who had recently planned their own events raved that Lauren was the best wedding planners they'd ever seen in action. They set up multiple bars that knocked drinks out quickly (despite the fact that the groom and I went overboard and nearly provided every possible drink). During the partially served, partially self served dinner they were quick to refill table drinks, clear plates, etc... Best of all at the end of the night when it was the groomsmen's responsibility to load the ridiculous amount of cases of booze back into my truck their staff didn't even hesitate to offer to help haul the boxes across the grounds to the parking lot. Steve was prompt, professional and was understanding of the wedding timeline. I kept hearing amazing things about the music that was being played while people were being seated. He called my parents to get a better understanding of the songs we had picked weeks before. All of the songs we had picked were played. When I did reach him, he reassured me that he would be able to perform our wedding. We have spoken again at 2 points since then updating on our plans. At this point, he was going to DJ for just us in a room with our attendees on Zoom. He said would refund part of our fee due to this which I thought was nice. Instead, 3 weeks ago I receive an e-mail from a family member letting me know that he was ill and was cancelling our wedding. For 3 weeks I have tried to contact him via e-mail, weddingwire, phone and replied to his family member regarding him refunding us since he no longer was going to be providing any DJ services for our wedding. He (or his family member) has yet to reply. I feel very bad that he is ill, but this is unprofessional and very frustrating.
