The worst legal representation on the planet…read more I hired Nick James to represent me in a divorce and it could not have been worse. First, let me say Nick James is one of the nicest people I have ever met. He's a large, friendly guy with an endearing personality. He would make a wonderful friend. Unfortunately ... he is an unfocused lawyer. My divorce lasted two years with endless court appearances and pleadings. He lost 100% of the time. How is it possible to lose 100% of the time? At the final proceeding the judge and opposing counsel laughed at him and asked if he wanted to object to anything being presented ... he was clueless as to what was going on... I knew with certainty, I had lost the case ... this was after I paid him $16,000.00! The staff of Hunt, Green & James act like a collection agency threatening with endless emails and phone calls... then they bombard you with football, Christmas, IRS, holiday "specials" where if you pay your bill within the next few hours you can get the amount slashed in half. It's like working with people at a used car lot. The women are simply rude. Arrangements are freely made concerning payments and time frames but no one seems to remember them. Please understand my divorce was extremely difficult due to my relationship issues and your experience may be different. It certainly couldn't be worse. The final blow was after paying $16,000 ... I was asked to pay an additional $6,000 retainer for Nick James' services for an appeal. An appeal he said he would lose with a 70% guarantee ... I gave up! Today, I received an additional bill for $11,450.00 for services rendered. What services? What did this law firm ever do effectively to represent me or justify additional funds? Please! The only defense for 100% failure in my case was as Nick James continuously remarked "The judge hates you". OK... I got it ... the judge hated me ... I hate people too... but if hate is the primary problem bring in the team of expert legal professionals at Hunt, Green and James and devise a strategy to make me look better to the judge or have the case moved ... (remember OJ Simpson?) ... it did not happen. Not once did he present any assistance to aid in my case. In his defense, he was able to have my clothes returned to me. However, it took him 2 years and a credit on my account of $1,000.00 for the inconvenience he had allowed to continue. Of course I had to drive to downtown Jacksonville and get them from opposing counsels storage room. I take full responsibility for part of my legal issues. My divorce came at a transitional time in my life and I put 100% faith in Nick James to represent me fairly and negotiate a fair settlement. He did not. I could never personally recommend this firm based on my experiences. Your experience will hopefully be better. Read the reviews and act accordingly... never base your choice of legal advisers on a website. I realize that too late!

I came to Mr. Cobbin late in the first civil case with a hearing scheduled within three days. He immediately went over the case, made calls to necessary individuals and court representatives. He stayed in close communication with me and appraised me of any changes or issues that arose. At the hearing he met with the plaintiff and then with me. He instructed me to be completely honest when queried by the Judge (i.e., going over likely dialogue scenarios). He assured me that everything would work out as he had intimated. He stated the ruling will most likely be one of two scenarios. Once the Judge ruled it was for the favorable scenario number two as he foretold. He did not stop at that point; as he still pursed various and sundry court filings that assisted in the true closing and dismissal of the case ex post facto. In the second case (dissolution of marriage) I served as the respondent. Mr. Cobbin picked this case up in media res as both parties were pro se litigants initially. Prior to that he had informally guided me on filings while I was pro se prior to me hiring him to take the case. His hiring was a fortuitus decision as the case, due to my counterpetition, became exponentially more difficult and complex.
