Great friendly helpful staff. Would highly recommend supporting this business. You can't be what they have to offer.

Tobaggon Disc Golf Course - 2007 am national tournament

Tobaggon Disc Golf Course

5.0(1 review)

Throughout my time on the nation-wide disc golf tour, I think this one tops them all. Only offered…read more~3 weeks of the year for the amateur national tournament, this course is the ultimate challenge. Because it's played on a tobaggon course, the elevation is supreme. Hole #1 your playing downhill ~150 ft. with hole #2 playing right back up the hill to an even more elevated basket. Following both of these holes, #3 is potentially my favorite hole i've ever played. A monster of a hole (~700 ft with a 200+ ft decline), this hole can make or break your entire round. Played well, the hole can be 3ed. Played poorly, you're looking at a 6 or 7. The hole is lined to the right by a heavily wooded area, which is known to eat discs. This course has great risk/reward. Nearly every hole has an opportunity to go bigger with the option of reducing the remaining distance, but will destroy you if you miss the line. This championship course is all about setting yourself up for the next shot. With about three or four "deuce" holes & an additional three or four "tough deuce" holes, you're going to have to get a couple of them to come out with a good round. The rough is thick & the terrain is intense - so if you're not an above average golfer, do not play this course. If you're an advanced player looking for the ultimate challenge - come play. If you're looking for great disc golf & happen to be lucky enough to come when the course is installed, this course is worth traveling to play.

The long - First off me being brand new to DG but played regular ball golf for years but got out of it due being a cash sink to play and the general lack of fun. My son took me out on a small par three course in Alpena and I was hooked. He let me use a couple of his discs (Valkyrie) and explained the general ways to toss em. I used to fling frisbee back in the 70s but DG backhand was totally different. I had a pretty good forehand so I went with that and since have learned to throw backhand. So when I got back to A2, I found the Toss Shop online and went there a few days later. I told the person who was behind the counter (Sorry forgot his name) I was a FNG (New guy) and was a forehand tosser but was learning backhand. I said hook me up with a backpack and a set of discs that would be a good beginners set. I walked out with 8 discs and a backpack (Trooper) for less then a 200 dollar bill. I spent twice that for a driver when I played whack and swear golf. I practice drives with putters and got three of them on his recommendation. I feel as though he did me a solid with his recommendations and will be going back for more goodies as the prices are very reasonable and the knowledge priceless.

I discovered this shop on Ebay and have now bought from them 5 times or more…read moreThey have a great selection, they changed the order once after I'd placed it with no problem, and they've shipped the same day every time! I live in the Philly area and the longest it's taken me to get my order is 3 days, but it's normally 2. I'd rather give them my business than the manufacturers as their prices are always cheaper and shipping is very cheap Jon

Seymour Lake Township Park - So much to explore!!

I'm so grateful for a fenced in playground area with bathrooms!…read more It's a great playground for multiple ages, there are some shaded picnic tables, and you can walk over to the splash pad when it opens at noon. I look forward to taking my littles again soon!

I'm extremely impressed with this park. I would not have known about it other than from a friend at…read morework who lives in the area. As soon as you drive in, this magnificent (perspective of a kid) playground appears to the left. It's even called the Kids Kingdom. My kids had a blast. Even my 20 month old had a wonderful time. We brought some PIZZA, ate on one of the nice picnic tables within Kids Kingdom. However, I must admit I had a specific intent for checking out this park; disc golf!! There is an 18 hole disc golf course. There are plenty of trees, dog legs (left and right turns... not actual legs of dogs), and water hazards to make it interesting. There is a nice variety of long and short throws. The tee pads were extremely easy to find; however, the baskets from the tee pads weren't as easy to find. If I had the map, that I attached to this review, from the beginning it would have been a different story. I skipped one basket because I assumed the drive was a little longer. I ended up throwing it 3/4 of the way to the next basket. No worries... I'll know better next time. I didn't know what PAR was for the baskets, so I assumed everything was PRO PAR and ended with 1 over for the 18 holes. I know there is a lot of room for improvement. I will definitely take my family to this park again!! My wife also wanted me to mention on this review that the bathrooms were nice and right next to the playground. My 6 year old didn't realize the bathrooms were so close and found a tree out in the distance. You'd think he was born in a barn or something....

I don't play disc golf, but I like the idea of parks just having a bunch of disc golfing places?…read morefields? greens? scattered throughout the park! Disc golf, to me, is like the putt putt of the skies, except you have to go somewhere specific for putt putt and I like that disc golf is available at this park & just generally at random parks throughout! It was super vibey seeing families playing disc golf as my friend & I hiked throughout the park. The park is beautiful and so scenic in the fall & our dogs loved crunching through the leaves! They got to take a nice water break along Grand River, which was perfect too! Also, I'm not sure if Fitzgerald Park includes The Ledges trail, but I'm including my review of The Ledges here anyways because I couldn't find a separate Yelp page for it! I love that the park is connected to the trail! The trail is beautiful and a lovely hike too! On one side of you is Grand River, on the other is a bunch of gorgeous and unique sedimentary rocks! And occasionally above you is a bridge! The trail isn't ideally wide enough for social distancing, so it's a bit difficult as people walking towards you are crossing paths. It's also a bit frustrating seeing all these people climbing on the rocks, when there's clearly a sign at both ends of the trail that says NOT to climb on them because they'll get eroded!! Other than that, it's a wonderful trail to hike, and if you start from Fitzgerald Park, you can walk to the downtown Grand Ledge area, where there's a fun little island park restored in the middle of the river that you can loop around at to head back down The Ledges trail back to Fitzgerald Park! It was a lovely afternoon hike through the park, trail, and island park all in all! :)
