**Warning: Avoid C. Anderson and Sons LLP!** I had a terrible experience with them servicing my boiler. They claimed it was unsafe because of a **tiny bit of rust** on the casing, didn't fix an ignition issue I raised, and tried to upsell me a new boiler for **£5,000!** What a complete waste of money for the service. I got a second opinion from the manufacturer, who sent an engineer. He fixed the ignition in 30 minutes and confirmed there was **no need** for a replacement due to rust or any other issue. When I confronted C. Anderson and Sons LLP with these findings, they refused to offer any compensation and completely dismissed my complaint. As the saying goes, "Never ascribe to malice that which is adequately explained by incompetence," but given all the evidence, it's hard not to question their intentions. If you're considering C. Avoid at all costs, charged me close to GBP700 for not doing what I asked nor solving the issue. I ordered a gas engineer to check on water tank and overflow pipe and told them I had already had drainage engineer and regular plumber in to investigate a leak. The plumber they sent spent 5h doing some drainage work which had just been completed. I also asked to call me to discuss the work, and my tenant offered to put him through to me as I am the landlord based abroad, plumber didn't call me nor wanted to speak to me. Just wanted to bill a huge number of works to do unnecessary work. I spoke with Will Anderson who refused to refund some of my unfairly charged money. Worst plumbing experience ever. read more

Do not use this company. They are useless. They tried to rip us off with bogus quotes amounting to £5200 including vat for unnecessary work. They could not find the leak and left telling us that it was the shower. They never reimbursed us for their incompetent plumber and as a consequence of their report our insurance company believed that it was the shower and we were without water for a month. If you were to ask me, I would say that they were out and out crooks trying to exploit vulnerable people but that is just my opinion. read more

DO NOT USE THESE RIP OFF MERCHANTS! I was told a Powerflush of my heating system would require two engineers on site for a whole day and was quoted £1595 + VAT which I thought was reasonable given the amount of time and their £90/hr rate. In reality, one engineer turned up on site for less than 7 hours. They misrepresented the time required to perform the work to significantly overcharge me. They are refusing a partial refund to reflect the actual time/cost the job took. Felt like going back 25 years to price gouging. After several poor experiences I am glad to report that I have found a heating and plumbing company that I can recommend 100%. The phone at C. Anderson & Sons was answered immediately and personally (no "all our agents are currently busy serving other customers") by an experienced advisor, who was able to seek advice during the call and figure out exactly what was needed. Unbelievably, they set up an appointment for the same day, although Christmas was only 4 days away. Our first engineer, Baljit, made light work of access to the boiler, although this had caused their company engineer to refuse service. He soon diagnosed the problem - a faulty circuit board and arranged replacement. My wife then made a personal request to restore hot water in the interim as our immersion heater also proved faulty. Although it was now after 6 PM, Baljit phoned a fellow engineer, Dosh, who came around after 9 pm and fixed everything with advice and a smile. Try Andersons yourself. You won't be disappointed. They came to fix a leak between toilet bowl and cistern. The engineer fixed the leak but broke the toilet. They charged me before I could even get through to my bank to stop the payment, even though I did not sign for the work done. Now they want to charge me to supply and fit a new loo for an exorbitant price. No refund of the charge for the broken loo (which is unsafe to use), no attempt to make the loo safe, no refund, and no response to my messages. All in all, no customer service. read more

Terrible service. They installed a new boiler in our flat. We Called out a plumber as the boiler switch was accidentally switched off, was told I would not be charged as it was a simple mistake. I was then charged for this. Tried to dispute but both managers were unsympathetic. Awful experience. money grabbers. No customer service whatsoever. DO NOT use them! AVOID THIS COMPANY, WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. They have proved to be completely unreliable, totally untrustworthy and clearly exploiting the fact that I was not on site to charge me as much as they felt they could get away with, without even my consent! I am now trying to obtain a refund through my credit card company. We had a leak in our rented property so I contacted C.Andersons and Sons on 4/5 and booked an appointment for that very afternoon. I explained we had a new tenant so to please liaise just with me for costings, resolution etc. I received a voicemail later that afternoon stating that the issue had been solved and that £195 had been charged to my card! No explanation, no request for me to approve or for my consent, nothing. I called back and spoke to a gentleman who told me his colleague was dealing with it and would call me back shortly. Nobody bothered to call me back. I spoke to another gentleman the following morning and was told that in fact the job was not finished, a pipe/attachment needed to be fitted the washing machine, and they were due to go back on Friday 5/5. I told him that no one would even be available on the Friday and requested they return on Saturday, so he booked a slot between 11am-2pm. On Saturday nobody turned up, no phone call, nothing. I called again and was told that the appointment had been booked for Monday 8/5, not Saturday as previously agreed. On Monday I told them I wanted my money back for the appalling service, and the difficult position they left us in with our tenant. They refused this. Later that day my wife called to understand the exact nature of the problem and was told that the additional work required would take approximately another 2 hours to complete. If I could give them ZERO stars I would. They are terrible. I had a serious gas leak, so my landlady called them to have it fixed. That was last Friday. They said they would come on Monday and we were expecting that the job would finish then. One of their plumber came in the morning, then disappeared around midday. He came back at 5pm only after several calls to the office, only to tell me he didn't have the tools necessary to finish the job. He told me he would be back the day after, and that it would be all fixed in 3 hours. On Tuesday 2 plumber came around 2pm. One of them left after one hour, and the other one left at 5:30. The job wasn't finished, but they told me they would come the next day (yesterday) with the tools they needed to finish the job. Yesterday I haven't seen them. Today my landlady called them and told them she would report them to trading standard. They said they would come at 1pm. They came, but they are sitting in their van outside since then. When I went out to challenge them, they said that they didn't have the tools to finish the job and they were waiting to hear from the office to know what to do. They have already been fully paid, Meanwhile, I have been 1 week without heating, hot water, and cannot cook. I have two small children, and we are not having fun. Do not use this company - they took money from my account without my consent. I only found this out when i looked at my bank statement. They sent an engineer to look at the boiler where the tenant was renting - they turned it off when it was freezing outside and then told me i needed to spend £3000 for a new boiler. I called C Anderson & Sons for an emergency boiler repair. The plumber arrived quickly, and identified a bad printed circuit board. He gave a quote for the new board and labour, and said it would arrive the following day. The boiler was finally repaired, but only after four additional visits. Each time it was a different plumber who hadn't been briefed on the work done previously, and each time we were told that additional call out charges would be needed. One of the plumbers who came while only my wife was at home, spent a few minutes looking at the boiler, and then told my wife he didn't know what was wrong, and she would have to organise another paid call out. When my wife objected, explaining that she had stayed home for his visit, he became aggressive and hostile. I wrote an email of complaint about this plumber, but the company did not respond. In the end, we were without heat and hot water for five days, and had to pay quite a bit more than the original quoted cost of repair due to disorganisation and lack of competence. I give only a single star because of several reasons: (1) there was a lack of communication between the plumbers who came, (2) one of the plumbers was rude and aggressive, (3) there was miscommunication about both cost and time to repair. read more
