Integrity! Honesty! Excellent work! This shop has just permanently won us away from the…read moredealership where we'd been (mostly) taking my car for the last 6+ years. Said dealership warned us about six months ago that my rotors were shot and even dangerous, and seemed reluctant to let us take the car away, since we didn't have the money just sitting in the account to cover that level of repair. I've been carefully babying the brakes since then. After saving up enough, in the interest of convenience (distance from home), possibly saving money, and getting a second opinion, we dropped it off two nights ago at Salem County Auto Repair, with the list of what we were told/what we thought it needed. They called us the next day with the assessment: it doesn't need rotors, even the pads are still fine, but the brakes just needed adjusting. Oh! My! Gosh! They could easily have done the rotor job, made the money, and we'd never have known the difference, but they didn't. We'd asked for a tune-up & oil change. They said that it could maybe use an oil change but they had the records of when they did the last tune-up and, even though some time had passed, the car really didn't have enough miles to warrant a full tune-up. We've brought the car here, before, just because sometimes we're too lazy to drive the 25-ish miles to the dealership, it's older, and some things are just mechanical, not make/model-specific and "any shop can do them". We've always been very pleased with the work, the customer service, the promptness and especially the prices. They have actually not won over just one customer but all three of us (and our cars) in the immediate family.

This garage has the NJ state contract for towing vehicles and boy does he take advantage of that!…read moreHe pads his tow with extra fees! A clerical fee for $45.00! Now there's some expensive paper! And "no keys" labor fee of $50?!! Who leaves keys in a car that's broken down?!! Not to mention he charged $33 for mileage when the vehicle was only down the street! So then I certainly wouldn't trust him to charge fairly on a vehicle repair!

He also told me I had about 15K miles left on the brake pads. I appreciate the honest evaluation and choices offered by these folks and will retun when I need service again. The staff is pleasant and knowledgeable and takes time to answer any questions you may have. Great service, friendly and honest people - what more can you ask for?

I am very unhappy with this place. I brought my car in for what should have been a minor repair,…read morebut instead I was charged $159 for what felt like a bogus diagnostic test. The biggest issue, however, is their customer service. They rarely return phone calls, making it extremely frustrating to get updates or schedule service. I didn't have a copy of my insurance card; the young lady was kind enough to print a copy for me from my online policy. I had a daytime running light that had been out of service for weeks. I fully expected to pay for that in addition to the cost of inspection. Apparently the wiring was loose so I was not charged. In today's environment that level of honesty is extraordinary. I will continue to patronise Reliable Auto and recommend them to everyone I know!
