Stay away for this man. He'll sell you (rather, have his associate sell you) several boots to "repair" your foot. Feel lucky if you see him. Its usually his "associate". Fortunately my instincts told me to skedaddle when I was told by the office, over the phone, to get ready for surgery the following week.There had been no discussion with Chris Byrne regarding the possibility of the operating table at this point. Update: It's been two months since my child had an ingrown toenail removed by Dr. Byrne. I won't go into the everyday details but over the last 2 months, my daughter has been to multiple doctors appointments and on her 4th round of antibiotics and has developed STAPH. I got her an appointment with a podiatrist in San Diego who numbed her toe and found a piece of nail left over from the removal that Dr. Byrne left behind. So for 2 months, her toe has not been healing because Dr. Byrne left a chunk of nail lodged into her foot and it caused her to develop a Staph infection. The doctors office treated me like I was crazy and rude for demanding antibiotics and said they did not care that I wrote a poor review on Yelp because I had reviewed other offices poorly. So read my review and my other experiences and you be the judge but I can assure you I only complain when it's warranted and this doctor should not be allowed to practice medicine! read more

My primary care physician noticed that there was discoloration on my right leg and that is a sign of poor circulation. He had me remove my shoe and sock so that he could check the pulse in my foot. It was so low that he was alarmed so he ordered a CT Scan two weeks later. 5 days later, I had an appointment at Dr. Byrne's but he no longer sees me and has another doctor do the exam. That doctor is a "5 minute doctor" who comes in, looks at my foot, and leaves. However, he asked me if there were any problems. I told him that my primary care physician examined my foot, determined the pulse rate in my foot, and was so alarmed that he ordered a CT Scan. When I told the doctor in Byrne's office this, he was not happy, took my pulse rate of my foot, told me that there was no problem, and to see him again in 3 months. Dr.Byrne also owns SLO Motion next door that provides shoes for people with foot problems. Over 3 months ago, I had an appointment with the person in charge of this operation and he ordered a pair of New Balance shoes. A month went by and no word on the shoes so I drove over. He told me that their orders are backed up so I selected another vendor and 2 month have gone by with no communication. He had no interest in providing me with shoes. That individual is worthless and has no idea of the meaning of customer service. I will not be returning there. read more

Dr Byrne and his staff are professional, polite, friendly, and competent. Dr B took time to answer my questions with clear explanations. I like his "least invasive" approach--no xrays, expensive orthotics, or surgery until trying something simpler. My wife had a ganglion removed from her foot and I was with her every step of the way, both before and after the surgery. Additionally I have been the nurse at hope during the recovery process. The results have been nothing short of spectacular! There was no pain to speak during the entire process. I haven't seen a Podiatrist since having surgery for bunions on both feet over 20 years ago. I started walking 1/2 marathons, 15K's, etc. and was having some problems with blisters, toenail loss, etc. I went to Dr Byrne on 5/30/19 and he was Terrific. He provided advice for future marathons, walking and even helped me with getting fitted for proper shoes and orthotics with Stephanie. He took Xrays to make sure my screws were still in place from the previous surgery (not performed by him) just to be safe. The whole staff was wonderful and very helpful to be around. If you plan on calling make an appointment for ingrown nails do not waste your time. After me telling them my doctor sent out a referral and I waited a full week I was told that they never received it. So the lady I was speaking sounded nice after she said the appointment would be out til July. Yeah right! I'll be going to chop my toe off after this appointment. Decided to go elsewhere. I would not recommend Dr. Byrne to ANYONE! The wait in his office was normally 45 minutes to an hour. He is quick to recommend surgery without totally assessing the foot. He is a bunion machine and throws you to surgery right away and says you'll be good as new. My surgery never fused at all and I required another more extensive surgery, which I had from a specialist. I lost a year of my life, 7 months off work, and still feel the ramifications from his improper surgery. Save yourself and go to a real doctor...an orthopedic surgery who knows what they are doing. I know many people that are still paying for his lack of surgery skills. Ask around before you go....he has many unhappy customers. I would not step a foot in his door. read more

I started going to see Dr. Byrne many, many moons ago. He took care of my Plantar problem quickly. I recommended him to my daughter who was also satisfied with his care. Then my son had a problem with his Achilles tendon and dear ole Dr. Byrne took care of him. A few years later my oldest daughter had a foot problem and Dr Byrne patiently took care of her. Last week my husband had a neuroma and off we went to see Dr. Byrne. So, there are 5 people in one single family that all agree on one thing..... Dr. Byrnes and his team are just incredible. I went to him for one small issue and came to find that it was being caused by an injury that happened over 15 years ago. Treated, had surgery, recovered and am now 98% better. Dr Byrne was great. I had plantar fasciitis for a year, went to one podiatrist in the area who didn't even touch my foot. Dr Byrne came in, touched the exact point where the pain was. I WOULD NOT and have not recommended Dr. Byrne to anyone. I went in with a bone spur on my left achilles tendon and after several shots and new shoes from his office with negative results I ended up with surgery to remove the spur. After surgery I went into a boot for 6 weeks then a cast for 8 weeks and physical therapy for months plus more shots and I am still not able to walk for long periods of time without pain and it has been 2 years. Before surgery I asked him what could go wrong and he said" Nothing, that would be a failure to our objective. " Well, it has been a failure and my quality of life has been changed dramatically! I agree with another reviewer when she said she had long waits to see the doctor. My waits were always 45 minutes or longer and when I complained about it they would just say they were sorry but never improved on wait times. read more

If this app would allow for zero stars, that would be the rating. This Doctors office lacks the most basic of appointment management skills. The Doctor is never on time and the wait has exceeded one hour. My son was initially seen for a foot issue that has yet to be resolved and we will be seeking another Podiatrist. I could go about the absolute lack of professionalism exhibited by this office but will leave it with an absolute recommendation to avoid this office. read more

Not impressed. After waiting to get into this doctor at their San Luis Obispo location I was sorely dissapointed in the level of service and care. I was told by another physician that this Doctor was very good but was warned he is a "cutter". I have been having trouble with my foot for several months due to a work injury. I wasnt seeking surgical intervention but (hopefully) an agressive treatment plan to try and resolve the injury. Here are the problems I have with this office: 1. Asked for an appointment reminder; office didnt call. 2. Office was supposed to request my medical record from the referring Doctor; not only did they not request it, when I called to confirm my own appointment the day of the appointment the girl didnt know who I was or that she was supposed to request the record. 3. Doctor ran about an hour late. 4. Not 30 seconds after the doctor walked in he was talking about surgery; I asked what kind of surgery and wasnt really given an answer. 5. After refusing the surgical route he said I needed better shoes, thats great but a couple of things- I was a professional runner by trade; I know shoes. My shoes were not even 10 days old when I came to the appointment. SHOCKINGLY he reccomended the exact same shoe type I was currently wearing in a different brand (brooks); and wouldnt you know it The Practice is Partnered with/Co-Owns a shoe store (attached to the North county practice) and reffered me there to replace my already new shoes...nice sales pitch. I wouldnt reccomend this Doctor, he may be an excellent surgeon but as a chronic injury diagnostician I am very wary of his bedside manner as it includes sales pitches to support his side business and leaps to surgical intervention before even trying other options. read more

I am a Diabetic and with a Charcot foot...he and his staff have always gone out their way to make sure you are taken care of, all of your questions and concerns are answered in detail..
