We hired Ament and Sons Construction, LLC (Shawn Ament owner) to restore a home we bought on…read moreSanibel after Hurricane Ian. It took more than a year and a half to complete the work. We were living in NY state at the time and relied on Shawn as the general contractor to oversee the work. When most of the work, but not all, was completed, Shawn asked for the final balance because he said he was short on money. He gave us his word that he would finish all of the remaining items that needed to be completed. Unfortunately we believed him and made the final payment. We have been unable to get in touch with him since that time. He ignores our calls, texts, and emails, which have included a detailed list of items that were not finished. In addition, we have had problems with some of the work he did complete and have had to pay other contractors to correct, including, but not limited to: new smoke alarm going off for no reason and had to be replaced; new air conditioning system had to be completely cleaned out due to drywall dust/debris from contractors; several electrical outlets and lights not working; several lights in contract never installed; improper installation of hurricane windows-missing screws and improper screws; improper sealing of refrigerator water intake line causing ant infestation which ruined new refrigerator water/ice system; contractor lost new front door key to lockset he installed so door had to be rekeyed. While some of the work he did was good, some of it was quite shoddy, especially the electrical work. There were many instances of not following clear directions provided by the client and a lack of follow-through on the project. We would like to warn other consumers to be very wary of Shawn Ament and Ament and Sons Construction.

He came by as scheduled and assessed the problem, which turned out to be faulty suspension rods, but he also made sure there were no other issues, which I appreciated. The new rods were ordered (Maytag OEM). I did some research and found that aftermarket rods could fail quickly, which Woody confirmed. He came by again to install them. The washer works now as good as new. Woody is skilled, efficient, thorough, honest and friendly. His price was very fair. I would recommend him highly.

Very poor service. They damaged all of my furniture, unprofessional people that came to move my…read morefurniture they looked nothing like the crew they show on their website. They damaged every piece of my furniture and dented my freezer door in several places. This happened March 2023 I had to keep calling reaching out to them they kept avoiding me and finally when I said I am going to tell my story on social Media, the news, BBB they finally contacted me and only wants to give me $200.00 I did not approve that, the owner did come out I showed him all of the damage which includes glass shelves being broken he said he will take care of them, he did not. I kept trying to reach him since March and to this date they have not stepped up to fix the problem. If I could give them a half of a star I would. I would not recommend using this company you would probably get treated the same way trust me they will damage your furniture. You would want to tell everyone you know so that this doesn't happen to them. They refuse to accept your call and will not call you back. As I stated before this has been going on since March 2023. This has caused a lot of stress and frustration for something that should not have been. This was posted 1/4/2024 this has been going on for almost a year. Stay away from this company.
