I was referred to Mr. Leahy in the law firm. I had gone to him and told him I had lost my job during a merger and the company I worked for played dirty tricks to fire many people. The set-up-to-fail syndrome was used with me to fire me. I was made to do 3 months worth of work in one week with no lunch break. I was never allowed to use my personal days and never allowed to take my vacation time. All the files I was supposed to work on to do my job had disappeared in the system and I was accused of deleting them when I could not do that since I do not have authorization and would never do something like that since I wanted to keep my job. I was just seen as another Asian person that people thought that they could bully and take advantage of. I was given my termination letter and they had made up so much stuff, and I realized then that it did not matter how hard I worked because they had planned to fire me from the beginning. Maybe it is good I do not work there anymore because the company was caught doing Medicaid fraud under the new management and abandoned their patients without their medications that led to some patient deaths. Many patients wanted to file a class action lawsuit against the company and they were hoping Mr. Leahy would help, but he did not do anything with the case except take my money and do nothing with it. I had filed for unemployment, but as most people know, the unemployment system is so screwed up here in Maryland. I was denied my right to an attorney by Judy Smylie and CJ Morrison mocked me for my learning and speech disability when hearing happened. Also, the hearing examiner made fun of my last name. You could tell he was intentionally mispronouncing my name in a bullying, racist way. The unemployment office also denied me an in person hearing, never gave me evidence from the other side, and lost my evidence. My evidence was never looked at during the hearing ever, but judgement was made or passed without my evidence and without my verbal statement because I was not allowed to properly represent myself verbally at hearing. I got Mr. Leahy as a lawyer because I was treated badly by the company according to the human rights commission and did not get a fair trial. I lost my job and was not making money at that time. I asked him if he would charge me a low rate and I would pay him later when I got a job or when we won the case. I even asked him if he could refer me to a lawyer that works on contingency, but he said he did not know any and I would have to pay only $3,000 upfront. That was most of my bank account, so I paid it. I had brought all my evidence in a binder I had made with tab dividers and everything. Everything was in chronological order, but he wanted to photocopy everything, which I did not like because I had everything organized in the proper way in my binder. Well, he said the consultation was free and he would not charge me for the photocopying, but he charged afterwards. He never told me that he would charge me for the e-mails we exchanged before I hired him as my attorney. Next thing I know, he is asking for an extra $3,000 that I did not have. He said to ask my parents and that Asians have a lot of money, which is not true. I did not have the money and he was ready to drop the case, but my parents, who are in their 70s and on a fixed income, gave me the money. I hired him in August and my court date was in January. He never contacted me that whole time except once for like a minute. We went to court and he did not do anything. Court started at 9am, but he was not seen for hours till like 1-2pm. I kept contacting him, but he would not pick up his phone and would not return my texts. Next thing I know, he is walking in together with lawyer from the other side talking to my former bosses we are going to court to fight. I was never allowed to talk during the case and Mr. Leahy never presented my evidence and never called in any witnesses. He stood up in court and said I should get my unemployment money because I deserve it. That is all he did and I lost my case. He never showed my evidence like I wanted. That was the main reason I hired him and wanted to go to court was because my evidence was never looked at and I wanted it to be looked at in order to get a fair trial, which I still did not get because of him. The company I used to work for, they are like Enron and the company Erin Brockavich went up against in the movie, but justice was never served in my case. Mr. Leahy let a corrupt company win. I eventually became homeless The rich got richer (company) and the poor got poorer (me). After everything, Mr. Leahy is shamelessly asking me to pay him $3,000 more after losing my case and threatening to take me to court. First of all, please read the reviews below that are not recommended because there is truth to it that everyone should see. Secondly, I would give this place a zero rating if possible because this place is the most unethical and unprofessional place to get help at. These people do not help people, they destroy people's lives and livelihood. On top of everything, they purposely lose your case and put false charges on your bill. They will bill you or charge you for things they did before you hired this place as lawyers. They will find a way to charge you after you stop services with them. They do a terrible job at helping a person and expect to be paid for destroying your case and ruining your life. They have no self-pride. This place is an all white law firm. Red flags right there. They purposely harass people of color, give poor services, and over-charge. I do not know if they are racists, but I think high chance they are. On top of that, they will do anything to get their money. They will take you to court, but you have no chance of winning because they choose judge they are friends with who they know will rule in their favor. They got lady white Judge Lewis in their pocket in PG County Court. If you go to her court room, your case will be done in a minute and all the people who win in her court room are white people. This is such a corrupt law firm from Leahy till the owner Byrd. I have filed complaints against both their law licenses and both their law licenses should be taken away from them soon. I also am working with a news reporter to expose these two criminal lawyers. They take money to fight your case, but do not fight it. They take bribes from the other side. They do not care who they hurt or who dies because of their illegal and unethical practices. They were handed a case like Erin Brokovich movie, but they ended up doing nothing with it and innocent people suffered and died due to medical malpractice because this law firm did not do their job; they then expect to get paid for their work that they did not do; they overcharge you like crazy then. You need to know how bad of a law firm this is. It has the most laziest, most crooked lawyers alive who will do anything for money including taking a bribe from the other side and intentionally losing your case. Plus, they have judges in their pockets in the PG County courthouse, so do not plan to get a fair trial because the judges will take their side.
