All chiropractors are not created equal. After years of figuring out the best care for my body, I was excited to find a clinic that did the type of adjustments that work for me. After the first consult, I realized Dr. Matt was good at adjusting but less than stellar on bedside manner. I kept going because finding a good adjustment is better than finding a good conversationalist.
However, it started going really wrong about the time I lost both my dad and sister in the same week. My body rebelled against the stress and I quickly made an appointment to get adjusted. I soon found out that Dr. Matt asked how I had been doing, but didn't mean personally, he only wanted to know if the last adjustment held. I dried my tears and told him that my adjustment had held but my shoulder was not doing better, (it was the original reason I came in). After having been in multiple times, he told me that I would need to see a different doctor for my shoulder. I quickly learned he was not interested in matters outside his clinic.
I ended up finding out I had frozen shoulder and have been going to PT for a couple of months.
Today, I went back to By Design for an adjustment. I am a quick learner, and when Dr. Matt asked me what I had planned for the day I gave a curt answer of "Stuff." That was good enough for him and he continued the adjustment.
He put me on my side to adjust my hip, then proceeded to push on my injured arm causing it to spasm in pain. Not noticing that he had hurt me, he asked me to roll over to continue the next adjustment. When I didn't move he wondered why and I told him that he had hurt my sore arm, and I told him I had been diagnosed with frozen shoulder. His response? "Oh. Roll over when you can."
He never apologized or asked about my arm, just moved into the next adjustment.
When he finished with that adjustment he said, "Since i haven't seen you for awhile how have you held up?"
Normally, I would think he was asking about the personal trauma I've erienced since June, but nope. Since I've one that route before with embarrassing results met with lack of care, I responded with an apathetic, "Does it really matter?" He responded worse than i could have imagined
He said, "Not really."
At that point I was absolutely done. I walked out of the room to the receptionist to pay. She asked when we were making another appointment and I said, "I will not be back." She has also learned that patients don't matter because she didn't even ask why. She ran my credit card and let me walk out of the building.
Here's my actual review...
If you want a decent 3 minute adjustment for $60 without any personal care, he is the chiropracotr for you. If you'd rather not get hurt because of underlying problems that he doesn't care to address, stay away and find someone that cares more about patients then money. read more
