I felt some stress upon discovering that I may (or may not) be fined for not filing something that until today, I didn't even know was a thing. But as I've learned from a lawyer friend of mine, "ignorantia juris non excusat." For future reference, an adult pleading ignorance (i.e. "I didn't know") isn't afforded the same levels of leniency as when a child does it. So I called Roberg Tax Solutions, because the local (Oklahoma City) tax advisers are either not quick at responding, or are not willing to provide any insight without seeing dollar signs first. I got her voice mail. I figured that was the end of that, but she called me back within five minutes. I have never before had the pleasure of speaking with someone who was so helpful with tax advice. Along with the advice, I caught a hint of her kind personality, and she helped ease some of my stress. It's disappointing that I had to contact someone from out of state to get the help I needed, but at least I got the help I needed. I asked her to double check it and she omitted a 0 on a form. What I didn't tell her is, the same thing happened last year. Be aware of what your refund was last year if you can. If nothing has changed, don't hesitate asking if an amount sounds wrong.

I noticed my w2s came earlier than usual so I called to schedule an appt. I couldn't get through to anyone so I called the Rock Hill location and spoke with Matt. He apologized for my troubles and was more than willing to take me in the same day. At that point I had to make a decision: do I keep trying my old place or try a new location? Since I already had my W2s and he had time for me, I went ahead and made the switch. Upon walking in to the Rock Hill location, i noticed how pristine it was and was instantly impressed. I've yet to notice an unkempt tax place but this one was immaculate! Not to mention, all the stops were put in place for Covid protocol, so I felt even more safe and comfortable being there. Matt was very warm, engaging, and personable. I should mention prior to me coming in, I had some concerns regarding my second stimulus, which I mentioned to him on the phone. As we were going through my w2, he took the time to throughly explain each section as well as give me the proper info regarding my stimulus. I have always had my taxes done by a friend in Cleveland Oh, and just never took the time to find a new one. I scheduled through email and quickly got a response back. (I had emailed a couple places and this is the only one that actually returned my email) I scheduled a time and I think a week out to meet with them.
