We had a lot of fun here while visiting Kansas City. The bar tender was super friendly and we met some really nice people. The drinks were also super reasonably priced, especially coming from Boston. Worth a visit if you're in the area!

One of my favorite KC bars! Buzzard Beach is usually my suggestion whenever someone wants to go to Westport. Good drinks, fun atmosphere, and shuffleboard. The bar staff is always friendly and treat you like a regular. Though I don't typically enjoy the "Westport vibe," Buzzard Beach is always an exception in my book!

Yeah, yeah, it's a bit smelly, but you'll find the cheapest drinks and the most chill time at Buzzard Beach. We visit every time we go to Westport because of the bartenders and awesome drink prices. Their happy hour lasts for about 4 hours every day (I'm pretty sure), and you can get $1.25 drafts (3 options, including PBR) and ~$2.50 wells (it's a bit more for drinks with juice). This is a steal! Their bartenders are really cool and laid back. And the best thing about Buzzard Beach...the famous Bergen Malt. It's a drop shot with Jager and a topper of Irish Cream. You have to drink it fast or it curdles! Surprisingly good!

I've hung out downstairs so this is where I'm focusing. Rainy Thursday night - We found 2 stools at the bar easily and an American Spirit girl offer me 2 packs for $2. There are plenty of games to keep buzzed people entertained. Smoking areas outside are a convenient distance away. The upstairs looked spacious. I'd like to come back and check out that. I didn't know if the bartender would be rude to us since dives can go either way and we're from out of town. He was nothing but nice and even tried to find the channel of the Penguins game for my friend. If you're in that mood, you can't do better than the beach. It's dark. There's wood everywhere. And it creaks. And it smells. It's kind of like a pirate ship! You get cheap drinks and a jagged atmosphere. This place has it in spades.

Cheap, familiar drinks in Westport. The cheapest. It comes at a different cost, though. This is the very definition of a "dive." The smoking patio is mostly enclosed, guaranteeing that you'll go home smelling like smoke if you step outside to talk, and despite really incredible efforts to clean the place up in the past few years, the inside can sometimes smell like what it is, a very old building that people drink and make bad decisions in. Bartenders are generally friendly. Bouncers do a great job keeping the place in line. Clientele is of mixed age. Hard to see that anyone could ever feel "out of place" here. Just watch yourself near 3am closing on weekends, as the area outside Buzzard Beach turns into something of a scene from Mad Max with all the bars letting out. EDIT: A friend organized a show here this past weekend. I'd seen punk shows in this bar before and they were just annoying and made the place feel even less welcoming, but a couple of really incredible banjo players and a one man band played here Sunday and it was great and fitting for the bar.

Kevin was super nice and is the reason I will spend thousands of dollars at this place. Love the inclusivity and values here.

For a holiday happy hour, a few friends and I decided to check out The House (which is owned also by the owners of Lulu's, next door) was a great and very festive options--everything from lights to decorations (even dancing motorized Christmas figures!) to themed drinks. I had a cinnamon tequila sour that did not disappoint, and our cocktails were all spot on. I also learned that if you wanted, you can order food from Lulu's from The House and someone will deliver it over to you (if you're fine just chilling and don't want to walk over to Lulu's)! As for the location, I cannot wait to come back when it is nicer out because they have a large front area with heaters, seats, and just a general ambiance of chill. If it is colder, be aware that the house is small--so larger groups may find it harder to grab seats! I'm happy that I got to experience this place and it is definitely now on my list of places to go when I need a low-key drink! Thanks everyone at The House for a great experience and can't wait to see you next time!

This rooftop gem on the Country Club Plaza has such a youthful, energetic vibe--perfect for a milestone like this. Our server was excellent--super friendly, attentive, and even recommended a beautiful and delicious cocktail that paired perfectly with our dinner. We went all out and sampled a ton from the menu: fried lobster tail, pepperoni pizza, spicy tuna roll, salmon roll, wagyu Nagiri, oysters with caviar, and wagyu sliders. Most of the food was absolutely delicious! The sushi rolls stood out with their unique flavors and beautiful presentation--what a nice surprise. Our absolute favorites were the wagyu nagiri (melt-in-your-mouth incredible) and the oysters with caviar. The wagyu sliders were also a hit. That said, the fried lobster tail was a bit of a letdown--chewy and lacking the flavor punch that everything else delivered. The atmosphere is lively and fun, but heads up: it gets very loud. We were at one of those tiny cocktail tables and basically had to yell across it to chat, which made conversation a challenge during dinner. On the bright side, we scored an amazing seat with a stunning view of the Plaza. Watching the sunset while eating was magical and made the whole experience feel extra special for a birthday. Overall, great food (with just a couple minor misses), awesome vibes, top-notch service, and that unbeatable rooftop setting. I'd definitely recommend Prime Social and we'd go back in a heartbeat--maybe just bring earplugs if you're planning to talk a lot! 4 stars.
