It's based on a quite busy road and so seems to pick up a lot of passing trade which means it can be busy, particularly first thing in the morning and at lunchtimes. It's hardly haute cuisine but if you're looking for some tasty, wholesome English food to save you cooking yourself, then The Dolphin is well worth a visit.

Hadn't been to Rawtenstall before and was surprised by how quaint the high street was, cobblestones and loads of independent stores, it was bustling with folks. So to the dining experience - the staff were really friendly and gave us enough time to flick through their menu. I was in a Man vs. Food frame of mind so went for their Full English (eggs, bacon, sausages, black pudding, tomato, mushrooms, toast and butter served with tea/coffee/OJ). Be warned: the plate of food is humongous. There's plenty of choice for the non-cavepeople out there, so even if you just fancy a slice or two of toast, it's a lovely place to sit and watch the world go by. They serve breakfast until 11:30 but aren't open on Sundays.
