Buttons. Thats it. Buttons, and thats all. An inner city store in the Nicholas building (a floor above Retrostar) is the adorably petite Buttonmania. As the name suggests they exclusively stock.....buttons! This is the store you dont know you need until you rip off a shirt in excitement or a well loved jacket loses one of its difficult to replace leather knot buttons or a wooden toggle clasp. Think hard (impossible) to replace buttons. These are not needs I had anticipated until working in high end retail where if a button pops off a $500 jacket a customer expects a replacement. UM ...........what to do...........Buttonmania! There is literally thousands of buttons in all different styles, sizes, materials, prices, colours, shapes etc etc. A good trick to smarten up an older/vintage jacket or to make a charcoal jacket stand out is to replace the buttons. Its a really simple but rarely considered concept that can change the whole look of a piece of pre loved clothing. Buttons range from .50 to $5 per button for the really fancy ones. A set of four tortoise shell suit bottons will set you back around $12, not a browse for funnsies, but "good to know" store. read more
