This is a well-marked @6-mile loop trail (with options for shorter loops) passing through primarily hardwood (oak/maple/aspen) forests in various stages of recovery from recent and not-so-recent cuts. Terrain is flat to slightly rolling. It passes a pretty little undeveloped lake, which made me wish I'd packed in my flyrod to see what might come up to play. The trail is wide and open, probably since it's maintained for cross-country skiing in the winter. Hiked it a few times over the years and would love to ski it someday. As we were about to begin our hike, a guy with a mountain bike in his truck pulled up and asked if this was a good trail for riding. Couldn't say, not being a rider and not having been there for about five years, but while we were hiking, he passed us and said he thought it was great. So if two-wheeling is your thing, give it a shot. One of the few downsides of the trail, at least to me, is that it intersects with and runs parallel to some ORV trails, and we heard the whine of engines through several parts of our hike. That certainly didn't ruin it though, and this will continue to be a stop when we're in the area. read more
