Hidden gem! our family loves going to see the caterpillars, Butterflys and moths flying around us. Native butterfly habitat. With a gift shop and painted lady caterpillars for sale to raise and release, always a wonderful time. And plants for sale to start your own butterfly garden. Can't wait to go back this season and sit and enjoy the flowers and butterflies

I had high expectations before I went and I planted this idea in my head that I would be walking through beautuful gardens filled with flowers and shrubs and the butterflies would be flying around and landing on me, this was not the case. Butterflies of Cape Cod is a very small quaint place. You walk into the gift shop and purchase your $6 ticket. Than you get a list of butterflies that they have for viewing. You than walk outside the gift shop back door and enter the backyard. Once you get outside in the backyard you follow a butterfly path and you'll see an enclosed butterfly sanctuary like structure. You go through the structures door and enter it. Inside there you'll see numerous educational postings with butterfly information on them, hanging flower pots above your head and a glass box containing pupas. The butterflies were out of reach as there's no walking through their area to go over to them. Some were hanging on to the flowers in the hanging pots above my head, some would fly over my head and in my face from the closed off section where they rest upon the screen, on top of flowers or where their fruit was placed. I spent approximately about 20 minutes taking pictures and talking to one of their employees. The employees are amazing, professional and helpful. They're very knowledgeable about butterflies and I learned things about them I never knew. Even though it's an extremely small butterfly place it's cute and quaint. I find this place great for adults and especially for children as they would learn some wonderful education about butterflies and how to respect and love all of YHWH'S (Creator/God) creatures.

In the area to see the relatives and my aunt took us to visit Pairpoint, which has been in business since 1837! Talk about being around for a while! Pairpoint is America's oldest glass work company and an informative and interesting shopping experience. Watch the glass-makers create their pieces. The extraordinary craftsmanship is fascinating to watch. The Sagamore location on Cape Cod offers a chance to witness the artistry of glassblowing Monday through Friday. The gift shop is open every day of the week! The finest homes in America have displayed pieces of Pairpoint glass. According to the Pairpoint website, "glass is an art form and as such is in a continuous state of transformation. Pairpoint quickly established itself at the forefront by consistently inventing new techniques and stylistic trends that are copied to this day. In addition to the famous "puffies", Lava, Peachglow and Satin glass were first created by Pairpoint glassblowers." Pairpoint provides custom glass and crystal commemorative pieces and trophies to some of America's most prestigious sporting clubs and organizations. In 1974, Pairpoint began issuing limited edition pressed cup plates that have become highly collectible. There are now about 100 different patterns to collect. The beautiful glass ware is something to behold. I am not into buying a lot of stuff and putting it up on shelves to collect dust but that Cranberry glass was so gorgeous! You have to visit and take in the historical and artistic value of Pairpoint. Not to be missed activity on Cape Cod!

I loved seeing the colorful buckets of broken glass and witnessing the live glass blowing. The previous molds and items used/made decades (if not hundreds of years) ago were also neat to see and provided interesting insight to the evolution of the company. For the gift shop, I would have appreciated a few more pieces that were in the $25-50 range. There were a lot of small, inexpensive pieces at $15 or less, but then it jumped to larger, expensive pieces ($60+) with not much in the middle.

I explained my problem to Joanne and she said bring them in and we'll see if we can help. This was very generous of her since they had been purchased elsewhere. I ended up returning them to Costco instead and stopping at Sand n Surf and bought the same rockers from them for almost the same price, but fully assembled. They had to put them together for me and called me the next day, and said they were ready for pick up. This place appears to be a little hole in the wall that sells all sorts of touristy type goods, but they also do a great business as Polywood retailer. Super nice folks and extremely accommodating.

I wanted a particular design of Adirondack chair that I knew to be more comfortable. While they all look very similar there are differences in both the way the back slats are fanned out as well as how the seat is constructed. I ultimately opted against natural wood because they deteriorate more easily and shouldn't be left outside all year in our New England climate..those would pose a winter storage problem for us too. I learned that Polywood is a good choice in terms of comfort and durability. Unless you want your Adirondack chairs in a natural wood, the Plywood chairs come in a variety of colors which do not fade. We opted for a forest green which fits in nicely with the woodsiness of our property We have other outdoor furniture but I had a specific corner in mind where I envisioned two Adirondack chairs and footstools in a reading or conversation corner in our pool area. Sand 'N" Sun about an hour drive south of us at the mouth of Cape Cod had a great selection of Polywood Adirondack chairs. We were helped over the phone initially by Xerxes, the owner. He was helpful, knowledgeable and pleasant to work with. We had also ordered a very large patio umbrella to replace the one we have used for years over our outdoor dining table. This one is absolutely gigantic and provides greater sunshade over the table. Once we got to the store, everything we had ordered was ready and waiting for us. Xerxes and all the staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful. In hindsight, I don't know of this store carries Adirondack chair seat cushions or not. They are not entirely necessary but I had ordered some from L.L. Bean and are awaiting their arrival. The pool and patio store is actually part of an entire grouping of businesses all owned by Xerxes and family. So on the same stretch, there is also a huge gift shop....the kind everyone has seen in any tourist or beach town in America. This one was rather large with the usual assortment of t-shirts, sweatshirts, beach towels, hats, magnets, beverage glasses, all emblazoned with Cape Cod logos. There is also a soft-serve ice cream place on site along with an 18-hole miniature golf course. (I just may be the only American who has never played miniature golf and has no interest in doing so). Although it may seem like a random assortment of businesses, everything sold here is of a summer-seasonal nature. We had a pleasant and productive experience with this business. We have a pickup truck so were able to take the chairs and umbrella home with us. I am assuming Sand N Surf will deliver but we did not check out that option.
