You can really tell the owner has a passion for dance and loves helping people become confident with themselves and teaching them how to move. They were learning a "So You Think You Can Dance" routine when I visited and everybody looked like they were having a blast. If I wasn't taking down quotes and snapping photos, I definitely would have wanted to get up and learn some dance routines as well. The owner is really involved in the community and regularly works with the blind and visually impaired to offer them dance lessons, in addition to teaching children through the Palm Harbor Public Library. One of the kids was there and showed off her dance moves in front of everyone, it was really cool. One family drove down all the way from the east coast for the week just to have their daughter learn some ballroom dancing. Last year this studio was featured on "So You Think You Can Dance" so I think that is a pretty awesome thing to happen for Tampa Bay and for the owner. If I lived in Palm Harbor, I would definitely check out some classes when I have some down time.

Because of its performance and entertainment aspects, ballroom dance is also widely enjoyed on stage, film, and television. Ballroom dance may refer, at its widest definition, to almost any type of partner dancing as recreation. However, with the emergence of dancesport in modern times, the term has become narrower in scope, and traditionally refers to the five International Standard and five International Latin style dances. The two styles, while differing in technique, rhythm and costumes, exemplify core elements of ballroom dancing such as control and cohesiveness. In the United States, two additional variations are popular: American Smooth and American Rhythm, which combine elements of both traditional Latin and Ballroom dances. The studio has been location in Clearwater, Florida. 33763 since 2012

Over 10 years we have been a part of, learned from and grown with 7 dance studios and conservatories.... ( This is specially focused on the commercial dance studios. Ballet conservatories are a completely different world...a parallel universe of sorts$ Each studio is special in it's own way and perspectives. I believe they all great learning situations and provided what our daughter and I needed at the time..... and are fun! My perspective is that WFDC is the culmination of all that is the best of each studio....and the painful experiences make WFDC even more sweet.... I appreciate Tara (the principle ) her outlook on life, art, her GREAT team. They are helping young souls find both joy in expressing themselves thru dance and building confidence for life's road ahead. It's all good at all levels. Also a special note....bring your sons!! Dance is the foundation of movement... for any other sport dance will improve performance and reduce potential injuries resulting from regular stretching of muscles and joints and a greater awareness of self & space in a group. Dance for me is the elevated merging of art and athleticism. If you do not believe, go to a ballet barre and conditioning class... it is humbling....then try to go to center floor afterwards and make a simple turn or go into releve and hold... the kids make it look easy...it is not Editorial comment: That these kids can get up on a stage, at any age, bear their heart & soul to a group of strangers and 90% of the time walk away with the experience &.... it is incredible!! I am sure that this place is amazing per the reviews that have been left but I need to share my…read morerecent experience so that it helps anyone else who might have a similar scenario with this instructor! I was SUPER excited to take the Bachata class here. In June I made several attempts to get additional information because when I registered I didnt receive confirmation that my registration took. I drove up to the studio during "business" hours and both times there was no one there. I called and no one picked up. I finally got through to the instructor via Facebook she was short and rude in her messages and I had to ask the same question multiple times before getting an answer. I was unable to attend the July session and was planning to attend the August session that happen to start in the middle of July. Unfortunately I had premade plans on the day classes started but I went to the next class only to encounter the instructor who was very rude face to face and informed me that the canceled the entire August class. I would not have known that had I not gone up there as this establishment does not believe in communicating properly and only communicates when they feel it to be convenient to them. Needless to say I was entirely bummed and I will be looking for a different studio for dance lessons. I do understand the instructors frustration, however, I hope that she understands how equally frustrating it is to be a paying customer and having to jump through hoops to get a response from her in order to attend her classes!! I wasnt going by myself we were coming in as a group and all of us experienced the same interaction with her.

I did some classes with a specific niche dance teacher who isn't a "regular" teacher at this studio…read morebut instead paid to use the space. This review isn't about the teacher but about everything else. So if you're thinking about using them for your own rental (or booking for photo shoots like their site mentions), this review is for you. Every time I was there one of the two owners would sit and watch the majority of the class with their pet dog that would lounge on the furniture at the front or in their retail area. It's really inappropriate and distracting. One time someone stepped in dog crap inside and tracked it around the front seating area. Just... ew. Gross. Do these ladies bring their pets when they teach or is it only when someone else pays to use the space? One of the owners micromanaged the sound level the whole time she was there. Mind you, the speaker never popped or crackled or hit a level to worry about damaging it, nor were the neighboring businesses open to complain... I'm still laughing about it because their site boasts that they have quality sound but then don't want to let you use it. And then the chiming in when she had no business because it wasn't her class. If I wanted a boomer's opinion about something I would call my mom. From a student's perspective, this is objectively a nice studio space... If the floors didn't have a hump in one section, a ton of windows with no curtain thus blinding half the room perfectly with reflections from the sun, and a lingering buzzkill while you're trying to enjoy a class. I understand they're probably paranoid about their merchandise growing legs and walking off, but is there nothing they could do in a back corner to not feel like they're being a spectator? The decoration is cute, they have rotating artists set up their work, and this place has a lot of potential to be great. But either they need to have a system to trust the person teaching and give them a spare key (there's interior cameras...) or they need to figure out better customer service skills. It's like the boomeriest boomer that ever boomed opened up a business so they had something to do with their time. I wish these two the best of luck with their other classes and hope my experiences are unique to the times I was there.
