On a Saturday night in Vila Madalena when it felt like every single bar had a cover charge when all we were looking for was something not so crazy and more chill, Butiquim M3 hit the spot!
We parked across the street in a private lot and were walking around to scope out the area but most places were either closing for the night or had a pretty steep cover charge. Three of us walked up to Butiquim M3 and were able to get a table without any waiting. As soon as we were seated, a server gave us menus for both food and drink.
There are a variety of beers and mixed drinks available. Since it was my last night in Brazil, I of course had to try their version of the caipirinha! It was strong, limey, and delicious so I was very satisfied. Butiquim M3 also offered Paulistania beers which are served by the bottle. I tried a couple sips and would definitely order a bottle on my next visit!
What really impressed me about Butiquim M3 was the live samba music. It was a different type of samba from what I had heard the previous night at Bar Samba, but it was still very upbeat and enjoyable. The space was a little too small for samba dancing but the band playing was very lively and fun to watch even without dancers.
The only gripe I had with Butiquim was that they didn't have any change when I wanted to settle my tab in cash. They offered to give me tons of gum packs instead of change...ridiculous! I used my card instead without any hassle, but would have much rather paid in cash.
Thanks for providing a relaxed and chill atmosphere for my last night in Sao Paulo, Butiquim!
TL;DR - no change, no cover charge, and live samba on Saturday nights! read more
