Busters Diner used to be good, but alas now it is very different.
When I was a teenager Busters used to do great food, which seemed freshly made.
Nowadays it's under new management, and I am told that the women who owns the place is so cheap that she just gets a whole load of "Super Saver" brands from TESCO to stock the place with. The difference is definitely noticeable.
The Busters fries used to be very good, but the ones I had a couple of months ago were saturated with grease and had a very unimpressive flavour.
The tattie wedges used to be good as well, but the ones i had about a month ago were flabby, not well enough cooked, and just plain not very nice. There was no salt or ketchup, which did nothing to improve the already uninspiring and generic flavour of this menu item.
However, what was truly horrible was their crisscut fries.
I had these along with what must be the most miserable, dejected, pathetic and exhausted salad I have seen in a very long time. Half of the salad box was filled with a tub of coleslaw, meaning that there wasn't much salad at all included... but that was a small mercy as it wasn't very good to eat.
The crisscut fries claimed to be savoury coated fries... but they weren't fries... they're some kind of big frittter thing in a lattice pattern. They're assumedly meant to be crispy, but a lot of them were not that well cooked and were mushy and congealed together in the box. They were completely saturated with grease which tasted very much not fresh. I had to throw out most of them, because eating them made me feel really ill. A little while later i puked up right in the street, which was a mercy to get that stuff out of me I can tell you.
I won't be bothering to waste my money at Busters in the future, I reckon. read more
